fitting my new bumper this week at somepoint...

The front section of the undertray is nearly completely obliterated and hanging down at the moment...im think of removing it completely.

Is there any problems doing this?

Cheers mate...its not doing anything but catch on stuff at the moment.

Yeah I know bud they are a pain in the ass IMO lol. Just something else that needs to be removed when the car is jacked up.

I saw one Ebay go fo 20 odd quid so going to rip mine off instead.

Prob hangs down because when i bought it it had at somepoint the oilcooler bracket broken leaving the cooler lying on the tray...

Also as the tray has been scraping speed bumps ect it has worn holes in it...so as for saving weight i wil get zilch lollolol.

I have a undertray i will put on. I dont like those double speed bumps that would really rip into the engine if i didnt take them right.

I used to think it was my bumper catching the bumps till i found the front undertray hangs about an inch off the ground

Bum grapes your right. An undertray on my car 5" of the floor might not be good. Arse wind and fire. hmm.

no undertray on mine, or on my last car (200sx), dont really see them offering much protection appart from keeping a bit of dirt off the bottom

The reason the under trays are there is two fold:

(a) protect the engine and airfilter from water and debris damage, and

(b) aerodynamics - despite how it looks it does help channel the airflow underneath the car

Granted, reason (b) is only a minimal factor but it is there for a reason.

If you have removed the front under tray make sure you have the splash guard in place underneath the airfilter - especially if you're running a cone filter like an A'PEXi.
