Engine trouble..

Hi,

I'm having a bit of trouble with my zed. Occasionally, when I boot it, the engine can stutter slightly in the mid range, but only now and again. Also, when I plant my foot I sometimes get a puff of sooty smoke out the back. But this is only now and again too. Other than that, the car runs like a dream.

It can feel a little bit lumpy sometimes when it idles also, but I checked and cleaned the coil pack and injector connections. Also I cleaned the MAF connections. One of the injector connections seems to be a little temperamental but it may have happened when I tried to get the connector off :headvswal but would it cause these symptoms? The engine seems to stutter overall, not just splutter on one cylinder.

I haven't changed my fuel filter for a year or so either, so that could be something I suppose. I changed the plugs to cooler ones a while back.

Any advice would be welcome. I've brought a boost controller and want to get it sorted before I fit it.

Thanks, Bart..

Just had a thought. I posted something about this before, and PCV valve came up. I hope it is, but we will see..

Is it dificult to change injectors?

Defective Maf mate.

See if you can get someone from the forum to try a swop. If it works get one if not no money lost.

i had exactly the same symptoms and it was a crappy connection onto the TPS. I was also directed to the crank angle sensor. I took my time cleaning all the contacts onto the sensors and the looms around the engine bay (including the MAF) and the problem was fixed. As said above worth trying another maf but cleaning the contacts definatly wont hurt, and you might be supprised like i was,,.

Nice one fellas. The question is has anyone got one I can try?? I'll put a post in the items wanted section.

Cheers,

Bart
