Drag racers use them to bypass the exaust system.

 

Its like a Y piece in the down pipe, one side goes to the system and the other is open to the air. When not on the drag strip the open side is blanked off so the exaust is quiet.

Some nice noise there. But dare I say there aint nowt like a loud U.J.M. to get the shivers all up yer spine. :cool:

My bro has got a 16 v-tec vti with alot of engine mods got it upto just over 200 bhp with a full race spec exhaust and its just as loud as that you can hear him for miles he has just spent a load of money on the internals for the engine to make it bullet proof as he has got a turbo conversion ready to put on to take it up to nearly 300 bhp
