Valuation of a ZX wanted

Hi everyone,

Just wondered if anybody can help us out.

I am just on the verge of submitting quotes to the insurance company for the acid damage to my car. The insurance assessor valued my ZX at £5700 and he said that they will write off the car at 70% of that amount i.e. £3990.

Most of the quotes I have are greater than that for the work required.I am looking for an official valuation of my car, it was an immaculate K reg, 1992, Twin Turbo, Series1, manual, leather, executive pack, UK car with 98 K on the clock full Nissan service History, bought in May 2001 for £7200. I am about to forward a load of adverts and the Parkers Guide (who value the car at 6850)to the insurance company, to hopefully influence them, who are Lancaster Insurance by the way.Has anybody any ideas, or a source who can value this car at its true worth.

Cheers

Jesus, sorry to hear about this Mark!

You're doing the right thing, just keep disagreeing with them over the final settlement figure. Send them loadsa ads from the Trader and Top Marques is even better if you can find a few Z's from there instead.

Keith_C had this trouble with his Supra, just don't accept the first figure they offer you. Keep hassling them and hopefully you should both end up meeting more in the middle so to speak. wink.gif

My car is the same spec as yours, same mileage, but 2 years older and that cost me £4800 last year. Tell the insurance company that manual uk cars are as rare as fuck. It took me 6 months to find a decent one. Autos will always be cheaper.

I don't know if the Z Club can help but it might be worth contacting them. Perhaps a letter from the Club Secretary or something?

I just checked an old mag and noticed they had an Insurance Valuations Officer.

Good Luck

definitely keep on and dont let the bastards drag you down!

If the car is a class 'd' write off(uneconomical to repair) then you can buy the car back of them for scrap value.

for exaple if they give you a setlement figure of £6000 and the scrap value is £1000 then you will get the car and a check for £5000! not bad realy, then you could repair the car on the cheap or break it to make up your money.

A lot of the time buying the car back and repairing it through someone of your choice and your choice of replacement parts will work out cheaper.Which leave you with a bit of wedge spare to make it go faster so you can write it off properly next time round(only kidding!)

hope this helps

Just to add that I've just started Insurance for me on the Z and Mrs Turbo(on the Merc) with Firebond.

Because they're Classic Car policies you get all the Agreed Valuation Forms to fill in so that hopefully, if that bad time arrives you don't get swindled! wink.gif

Mark, might be worth you emailing Keith to see exactly what he did. He's just won effectively and is getting his full valuation minus his excess through for his banged up Supra! Result! wink.gif

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the response, half the pleasure of owning a Z is the knowledge that there's people on the forum that will help, at the drop of a hat.Timmy Turbo have you got some email link for me to contact Keith C?

Cheers Guys
