I dunno if anyone read my post about my ideal car...

2+2

Twin Turbo

Manual

Targa

Seems whenever I think I've found a z32 I want one of them bites me on the bum. I rang about one today but the guy wasnt in. He rang back while I was caught unawares (without my list of questions to hand) but it was ok we talked a while and I asked loads of questions. The car sounded great! Then just as we were about to go he says... oh yeah its automatic.

AAARRGGG!

The FIRST question on my list and I forgot it.

Now I know a lot of people will actually prefer the auto's but I really want a manual. Or I'll find a manual and think YES! But then it turns out to by a NA.

So what would you prefer? The auto TT or a Manual NA?

Kind of a silly question but believe me it would be help and advice so any replies would be great. Thanks again

In terms of progression I think an NA would certainly feel fast compared to what your used to. I've only ever been in one NA which was an auto and it was pretty quick, nothing to the likes of my TT manual though :) (even when it was standard), something I waited a very long time for. I ended up traveling 400 miles to get my car which was a gamble but well worth it in the end.

Good luck on what ever you buy, dont think you will be unhappy whatever Z you choose, just get it looked over very thoroughly!!!

I want something fast-ish, for kind of half general use. I intend to go to work in it twice a week. I want something that looks good and is good for the summer. Hence the zx. I'm thinking I'll go for the NA so I dont haveto worry about the turbo maintenance and looking silly waiting in my car everytime I arrive somewhere. I know turbo timers can solve it but with immobilisers thats a grey area too. I'm going to look at one today and they have a tt too so hopefully I'll drive both.

If you want a fastish car get an NA, if you want a RAPID car get a TT!

You only have to leave a turbo car running when you stop if you have been on boost a lot just before, i tend to drive off boost for the last couple of miles to allow the turbos to cool, and to get some cool oil in them. then no need to keep it running when you stop!

" fast-ish, for kind of half general use. " NA

"I intend to go to work in it twice a week." NA

" I want something that looks good and is good for the summer." NA IMHO looks better esp for the summer as a large part of the "look" is the sound and the NA sounds AWESOME as it runs a higher compression engine. PLus the money you save you can spend on bling like wheels or 99 spec lights etc.

"...dont haveto worry about the turbo maintenance.." lol obv NA again.

It seems the car that will definitely suit you best is the NA - dont get me wrong the TT is an uncaged animal and better car IMHO but at your stage you will save money and learn how to handle the NA as a "stepping stone" before thinking of a TT later. This is especially the case as you wil be getting a manual which is always more fun!

As an N/A driver I would fully recommend one to you.

You'll love the power of a 3 litre engine (with an exhaust and a few other bits you'll be packing around 250bhp remember) and it sounds great to.

I do think you'll need a manual box to get the most out of it but just do a manual conversion if you can only find an auto.
