Every time I pull off hard and foot down. My clutch smells. But it aint slipping after 4000 rpm in 1st it ends in wheel spin so there is nothing wrong with the clutch that way.

But is the bad smell a sign of it going?

Well put it this way Stu, I wouldn't say it's a sign of it becoming more healthy! LOL biggrin.gif

Years ago when I helped me Ma and Pa move to De Wales...Aiiiiiiiii...we hired a Luton van. Got it stuck on some slippery grass outside me Dads new house and fuck me? What a stench as we proceeded to help the clutch burn itself to death! biggrin.gif

When friction occurs suddenly and at high speed the result is a smell to warn you that what you are doing is not a good idea! ROFL biggrin.gif

If you want to wear it less, then slip it less. Dump the clutch and spin the wheels, screwed tyres but healthier clutch ! smile.gif

Actually, you should get the clutch fully engaged as soon as possible, then there will be virtually no wear until the power of the engine overcomes the clamping force of the clutch (and then it's really chequebook time!)

It is very likely that I'll have a partworn clutch available in the next week or so. I reckon this would be suitable for an unmodded motor for quite a while. However, as the cost of the clutch would probably be less than the cost of fitting then it may be a false economy ....
