Personally, while I can understand the appeal of an un-molested mint Z, nothing stops me in my tracks like a well modded example. I've seen some belting examples: on-line and on-the-road. The $64,000 question is do mods add anything?

If your reply is, 'It's a personal thing!', then return your answers on a post card addressed to cop-out city.

If I could I'd post a pic of my Z I would but dont have those subscriber privelages - maybe photbucket - but I'm quite sure I cant even post a link. I've got some subtle mods planned for this summer: exhaust, shocks, brakes - even tinted windows. If the bank balance stands it, a nice trick respray too. Best start stickin those hours in at work!

In short...

NO :smash:

Unless youve spent in excess of £10G's+ in add ons then your not gonna see any return im affraid...

modded ones go for the same as standard zeds im affraid

But to quote

'It's a personal thing!'

Broadly speaking in the trade, standard is always best.

Even if you find someone willing to pay more for a modified car, you never get the money back that you spent on them.

So you think that a Z can be 'added' to if you throw enough money at it?

I would personally pay for for a mint unmolestered example that one that's had loads of things done to it.

In a nutshell yes. But if your looking for monetary gain, your way off track. I bought my car standard, and over time I have improved on it, with more time it will become the car I have always wanted. Thats the whole point of modding it.

If it was a money thing, I would of bought a brand new car and join the beige brigade

Maybe I should have differentiated between Performance mods and body mods. The mods I have planned are to up-grade power output along with the braking system (it really needs the brakes done!). My Z is already modded but it is a nice example - but then they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Unless it's engine mods you will not see a penny back on bodykit. I bought some bodykit for mine then sold it all and made a huge loss.

or on the other hand I wouldnt buy a mint standard one ever :nono: ...

Id buy one that some other Gimp had spent thousands on and do the finishing touches myself ;)

lol....sorry but its true is thus demonstrated Quote:-

It really is 'It's a personal thing!'

Its only worth what the buyer is willing to pay...

How else do paintings go for such stupid prices??? ;)

Do'nt remind me bud :headvswal :headvswal but like they say easy come easy go. Glad your happy bud ;)

It all depends on what has been done, and using what parts.

Certain mods do affect value, but You certainly wont get your money spent back. But thats not why we do it :)

i bought my 300 for 4500 spent 15k between me and ryan it sold for £6500 so there you go

:(:( have to agree here you never get back any where near what you spend

No, I personally don't think a modified car is worth anymore than a standard one, won't stop me modding but it wouldn't stop me accepting an inflated price if someone offered it!

Gregs example says it all. Yes, modifying does increase value(would never have got £6.5k with it bog standard), but not nearly as much as it costs to modify it.

I like the mods on my car - and am planning more.

its all down to personal taste , some of the time.. but it does annoy me when we spend this kind of money in most cases to improve reliability ,, ptu series one --too series two in point, ?? thats what up sets me money spent shouldnt be money wasted , as when the next guy buys your car or one thats unmolested he is going to pay out in the end anyway? ,

Bugger

I guess the reason we do it is to actually keep the car that we love. Modding doesn't add much to the value .. it's a loser moneywise. We do it because we like it.

i could have almost brought another zed with what i have spent on mine :(, but makes me smile so i dont care tbh.

well i have 16k in receipts for my car in mods but i want 7k for selling it. you dont make the money back that you have spent but i will always pay that bit extra for a car that has been modded (when i say modded i dont mean some bits of plastic some 17yrold has stuck on in his garage lol)
