hi,in my opinion the auto is a great cruiser and the manual is a sports car, depends what your after,i'm sure the techie people will be along soon though, lol

ps,when did vauxhall make fast cars

Auto in hold mode is as good as a jag, with overdrive off and power mode on it drives like a proper sports car.

If you want a 24hour a day sports car go for manual. i use mine day to day so auto is great, takes all the stress out of driving especially in the city but with foot to the floor it transforms the car.

Only thing against it is in the wet but just stick it in hold mode and its tames it.

Sorry to all the auto owners but I gotta ask

Whats the point in owning a sports car and having auto, to me the Zed is a drivers car and you can only truely drive in a manual.

If i could have one of each i'd quite happily own a manual but for the 5/10 mines of hard driving i do a day i'd rather stick to auto. If it was a weekend car just for driving hard round country lanes/on the track yes a manual is perfect and really uses the car to the best of its abilities

Different people like different gearboxes.

The auto on the Zed is a good one.

There are more autos than manuals out there.

You can convert an auto to manual for between £400 and £1500 depending on parts / who does it.

Japanese Auto boxes on TTs need an extra cooler fitted for use in the UK.

Try both and see what you prefer. I came from manual cars and love my auto.

Thanks for all your replys why do you need an extra oil cooler for auto in the uk and how do you go about finding/fitting one whats the outcome if you leave as standard

For some reason they have a tendency to overheat. I haven't added one to mine yet but will definately being doing it as having the box reconditioned is around the 1500-2500 quid mark so for 80 quid its a bargain.

The gearbox oil is cooled via part of the normal radiator, the new one bolts in front of the standard radiator and cools more efficiently. Doesn't look too bad to do from what i've seen.

uk cars had the larger oil cooler fitted for the auto box. where as jap spec only have a small one fitted down the side of the rad. it's an easy thing to change, buy the up rated cooler and fit that to the engine oil and use the engine oil cooler for the auto oil. easy to do. We do higher speeds for longer periods of time so the extra cooling stops the box over heating,

i have an auto and love it, you can use the gearsfor more sporty driving ie dropping down to 2nd or taking off the over drive for corners, and for over taking just press and play, kick down and your gone

Yeah, the manual shifting is huge fun, better than my old supra which felt like you'd just asked it to change two gears in one go and there was a massive thump lol

The autobox oil cooler on the JDM models is smaller due to lower speed limits over there (I think). If you don't upgrade it consensus seems to be that your autobox will blow up due to overheating, and not if, but when.

Is there any differance in mpg between auto and manual

Well, they're both crap that's for sure, at least if you're talking about the TT, but I don't know if they're at slightly differing levels of crapness. Won't be much in it I'd imagine.

Would you want to wear a condom if Kylie was ya missus :slap: ? Then why would you have an auto in a sports car  . Nuff said   all IMO of course
