Having only purchased this car two weeks ago, I’m still trying to find out about it, does anyone recognise this exhaust system? I’ve had a good look, but couldn’t seen any manufacturers markings, all of the bends are welded rather than been mandrel formed if that give any clues, and its very noisy.

Thanks

David

Check the rear boxes for markings....mine says powerflow!

My Skyline had a Powerflow Exhaust that was welded like you said-also looks similar to the exhaust tips on my mates old Powerflow exhaust he had on his Vectra

I just had a good look again, but no markings. The whole system all the way from the cat box? is welded including the rear box to the pipe, the main pipe is 65mm diameter

Cheers!

Three more questions if I may

1) Are they any good?

2) Is there anything that can be done to make it quieter?

3) The car was imported in Oct 2002, would it have been fitted in the UK?

Thanks

David

i would imagine if its a powerflow it would have been fitted in the UK

They look fantastic. If I didn't have my Vielside exhaust, it would be my design of choice. Nice and modern looking. Personally I prefer a quieter more refined exhaust note, but that's me.

Shame if is made by Powerflow, although yours looks pretty well made for them. Check the silencers for either 'Powerflow' or 'Longlife' embossed into them.

The main pipework looks to be of reasonable quality stainless although not that good. Powerflow use cheap stuff for their pipe sections and don't mandrel bend them, so they could be Powerflow in that case.

No mention of any manufacturers name or logo, the welds are ok, but not brilliant, nice looking pipes but too noisy!

You could always stick middle boxes in mate, should quieten it down!

i had powerflow and it was mandrel bent seamless stainless i watched them make it ..

same upswept boxer back boxes ..i had a centre box put in for two reasons....plod kept pulling me for exsesive noise .........and theres thousands of burglars out there

but they mightfight back so us motorists are easy prey to the cowardly tax collector dressed in blue .............and the second reason was to give the tub seals some back pressure ....boxer tips have gone now as some chav tw*t put them on his nova ...had to change mine at the that time

Cheers, I'll have to find a local Powerflow dealer to mod them.

It looks like it could be a home made job (welding up some stainless is not tricky) with some off the shelf rear cans, these will be the source of the noise.

If you get some back boxes fitted there will be a noticeable drop in sound.

P.s. Long Life put stickers on the top of the pipes and on the car.

I ran out of space to show the back boxes and couldn't get a decent picture of them, but have added one here, they are about 15" long. When I put it in for a cambelt change I'll see if middle boxes can be added.
