he no longer wants to sell and would i rather be interested in his 2.2 na s3 esprit.... i wasnt happy, woman wasnt happy, so i got my deposit back and explained in a gentle and calm manner how "dissapointed" i was.

however i have seen two other cars i like.. a lexus IS200 and a merc CLK200 coupe.

Out of the two, I would prefer the Lexus!

Don't really know owt' about em' apart from the bits are expensive but being a Toyota you shouldn't need many!

:D

was going to buy a lexus is not long ago,but settled on an e46 bmw 3series,i have drove one and liked it,nice car for a toyota

Yes, they are both ugly - don't do it! ;)

Sorry to hear about the Esprit.

We ve got IS200 (not my choice!) Its ok as a family car but certainly not in the same league as any lotus! I find it sluggish compared to my Galant.

I like the Lexus, well made. good spec and 6 cylinder and fair performance for a 2 litre however I always felt the dash dials gave it a small car feeling.

The 2 litre Merc is IMHO a car aimed more at the ladies and now looks dated compared to new model. I considered one once but would have looked for the 320 and even that looks slightly sluggish performance wise on paper.

If you are still looking at a replacement for the Z I would look at a 190 bhp Elise S2. Even a man of your frame would fit in it, just! 0-60 4.9 seconds. Although if you have back problems probably a little too low for getting in and out, just a thought...

PS I had an Elise and would swap back in an instant if I had the finances. Easily out perform the Z round town and it would only lose out after 80 mph plus. No rusting problems and still sound great for a four cylinder.

if you're gonna look at the Merc check for rust around the boot and the sills, even if its a 2yr old car. If it's post 99, make sure it's got dealer service history or the lifetime Mobilo life warranty is void.

Just keep the Z mate.

Ditto mate!

CLK200 is a nice car but will be VERY underpowered. I have driven a 230 kompressor and that feels slow as well - the 230 is just fine in my SLK though. If you want a CLK the 430 V8 is best and the 320 is adequate.

Ask Paul C about the Mercedes - he works for them!

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
