Please help. My baby is sick.

Was on way into work today, got nice new clutch and flywhhel thanks to Smithy and was going to fit them, but on way had to call the RAC.

Whilst overtaking on dual carriage way suddenly got massive lack of power. Thought the turbos had gone into safe mode but it seems a bit more. After coasting down the hill, defo lack of power, got to roundabout and the engine cut out. Started no problem but the engine will not keep running. After revving to about 3000rpm managed to pull away and head up next hill. Thinking it just lack of power, start going up hill and notice loads of black smoke coming out of exhaust. First I thought o shit the car is on fire but then the power really dropped and ended up doing about 10mph up the hill.

Decided to stop then and call the RAC.

Once the RAC arrived we decided together that the engine is massively overfuelling and will only runwhen I only just touch the throttle, any more and it cuts out.

Managed to get the car to my work but now needs repairing.

Done a ECU fault check and code 55 so that is all clear. Anyone got any ideas atall? really appreciate it.

maybe we could meet up soon then and I could borrow it. I be fixing clutch all weekend in cambridge anyway. give us ring when you free if you like 07834 956215.

I'll take it with me and try to give you a bell on my way back. Might be able to meet you somewhere.

TBH mate i would spend some time looking for a large air leak whilst yer waiting for a spare MAF, from what your saying it sounds more likely, as often even with a knackered MAF the car will idle, a large air leak and it usually won't.

So check all 4 intake hoses, the metal pipes to and from the turbos and down by the intercoolers to see if a hose has popped off, oh and down by the recircs as well, a small leak wouldn't cause the above, only a large one would.

hth

cheers

And the prize goes to Smithy. Where I had removed the recircs and blocked the large holes one of the stoppers had flown out. So advice is make sure they in very tight. Thanks for all help and Smithy your cheque is in post very soon.
