Hi guys. I am looking to paint my brake calipers(no problem) and the Hub(don't know if thats the right way of putting it - the bit that the alloy sits on ;-) ). Is there any paint/do's and don'ts for this kind of thing?

Cheers

Just don't paint the mating surfaces. I need to do my non-contact disk areas actually. Just give them a good clean and a wire brush and paint. Use a high temp paint. A nice silver or black is usually the best colour. Doesn't matter too much if you get it on the braking surfaces as it'll burn off, just be careful for the first mile or two. Keep the mating surface clean and sand off any paint that you may get on there.

Cheers, funky. Any recommendations on the paint?

They had some caliper paint in Halfrauds yesterday went to get some meself, they had blue/red/yella, Zeds red so i'm thinkin red/yella...........red/yella.........red/yella/red/yella/red/yella...........bol**x. Couldn't decide so left it there !!!! :headvswal

£9.99 by the way, small tin.

Just use hammerite a lot cheaper and does the same job thats what I use silver smooth finish, that calliper paint is just a rip off.

So it sticks then? Did you have to rough'em up before-hand?

Yes mate it is a proper metal paint and its also suitable for high temperature applications and as commented below same stuff as "calliper paint" different tin higher price. But the chavs all fall for it.lol

I used black Hammerite too, and it hasn't altered a bit since the day I did it. Would obviously recommend a good clean up of the calipers first using proper brake cleaner, just to get any crud and grease off.
