Hi,

I got a fresh import tt and the guy who i bought it from had delimited it and had the speedo converted as he does with all the z's he sells, i took it down the motorway to test the top speed and got scared at 160 as a slight bend was coming up and i am not used to the car or 160mph the best my previos cars could manage was 140.

The z got there with no problems at all and very fast it took me by supprise how quickly it got up there i havnt had a chance to try out the top end again but does any one know what the top speed of a delimited jap import tt should be?

Cheers,

Jim

thats the other funny thing, as scoops said u get to over 130 or so and think 'if i have a blowout im dead' which is quite stupid coz its fairly safe to say if u have a blow out at over a 100 your pretty likely to lose it! funny how the human brain thinks!

I thnk it might be that 100mph now a days is quite an acceptable speed for most cars 1.6 upwards to achieve therefore when you are talking 130MPH + its a different league. It is funny how the subconcious is up to date with the times...If what I said is indeed a fact?

I remember quite a few years back I had a go on my mates Suzuki GSXR1100 and that was at the time one of the fastest bikes on the road (around 1988-89 time) and I took it up to an indicated 160 MPH and it felt like I was kind of in another world and the real world was gone. Then I woke up to the sound of a police Senator behind me and it all came back online very quick. I didnt get caught on that occasion. :x: :D

You do concentrate a lot more at high speed or you will die.

I was talking to my mate at work tonight about this and I was saying that I have only ever driven at 120 and I don't like the idea of 160 or even 180.

He said if his supra would go that fast he would do it

i once got 152mph out of my vectra v6 with three people on board...oh yea, on a private road....(well it was late at nite...same thing)

172.9mph recorded by some GPS datalogging thingy at Bruntingthorpe airfield, that was after 1.5miles, albeit from a 40mph rolling start!!

My UK speedo was waaaaaaaaaaay past 180mph lol

was she maxed out, or was there more to come rich ?

there was more to go (didnt see what revs it was doing im afraid) , but id already fried my brakes and i was running out of runway LOL.

In all honesty thou, id of probably only seen another 5/8mph out of the car in the tune it was in, but the gear ratio's still wanted more :D

180MPH! looks like next time i visit my aunt in germany and travel down the autobahn i will have to pack a new pair of pants!

You can still get shafted for doing that speed on the autobahn I believe, its a recomended speed limit of 100mph.

Still I've managed to push past 170 with enough throttle for more, had to slow for a bend, otherwise I reckon it would have done 180.

Private road of course.

Just noticed that pic above, 3500rpm and very little boost?

You running T88 turbines in that thing or something?

Don't tell my Mum.... :D

I think what's in that pic might be what happened to me earlier today. My speedo started working briefly (in kph now I've taken the converter out) and as I thought I'd be limited to 112mph I decided to put my foot down and have a quick blast. To my surprise the speedo went sailing through 160kph, right on through 180 and then dropped off after 190 to rest in that position by the boost guage! I didn't think it should get that far!

After a while it pulled itself back round. Then it stopped working again. Then I had a blowout. Poo. :(

Main thing is do you really think i'd be able to hold a camera phone and take that shot doing that speed?????

My speedo went on a funny one that day and went from 90 to off the clock in a nano second!!! Thought it would make a fun shot though!! :mac1:

On my old 300 tt used to do that but it was the speed censor that was mucking about it also used to make the steering stiff as hell then bang the top of the dash to jump start the needal again but that dident always work

i have had 112mph out of my zed :( but........... delimted today so who knows, as soon as i find that private road i will check it out, nerves of steal me hehe, although i have driven 193mph before on a track in an f1 car (f1 experance race day) and that was freeking scary!! couldnt breath cos the air was pulling my helmet up, and the strap on me chin closing my windpipe or somthing!! no way you could take photo of speedo doing over 140 ish unless you want to die?

Yep, mine does that too. It's all to do with the speed sensor wire connected to the gear box... It's ok in dry weather but if it's been damp then gremlins can happen. Hate the stiff steering at 30MPH.. It's a pain in the arse!!!

I did 170 on sunday,on a private road of course, just happens there was a biker on my tail too :D

ps,not anywhere near flat out ;)

hi, tony, i did 180 when i first got the car, the setup you have now is lots better, once you get it tuned should see it go to 190+ , also when doing over 150's did not feel like it, car sticks to the road very well with the rock hard suspension.

I'm quite impressed at the shutter speed of the camera you took the picture with, I mean no blur at 180+ whatsoever....

After about 150 mph everything starts to go a bit blurry but if you do it at night then you can't see it happening!

The Z car is the most stable car I have been in at high speed and I would be confident in letting go of the wheel at 150 in mine (I haven't done this).

The car slips through the air so sweet at that speed but I must admit that when faced with a corner at 165 I did lift.

I did cover 450KM in just over a couple of hours cruising at high speed accross Europe last year and the car just loved it.
