How can i set up a webcam, so that anyone on a pre approved list can just click on to it ?

reason being, we have some boxer pups due this week, and i want to put a webcam on them, and allow the buyers to be able to click on at any time, and view the pups. the idea being, i wont have to say yes to them, they can just click on as and when they wish

I think you would have to set up MSN or something similar and have it online permantly and give people access that way?

lmao...

msn was my first thought, but only 1 person can view a time, and i would have to click ok each time, i dont want to be doing that, i just want to set my laptop up with a camera, and leave it there

Maybe need a website then?

i have a few of them, can i do it that way ? amd how

I have no idea, sorry, all I know is that is possible, so I would see if someone like Bantambunny knows or another internet guru.

I would have thought that you just get some software that takes a web cam photo every few minutes and automatically uploads it to a website. That sort of thing is available on http://www.download.com

thank you soooo much mate, all i need now is the bloody pups to arrive lol

No probs matey, i'm off to bed now. I'll be checking the cam over the next few days to see what happens :D

Best of luck!

You need something like this,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IP-Security-Camera-Live-Video-Web-Server_W0QQitemZ9710308219QQcategoryZ48632QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have 4 IP Cameras at home for security etc (not this make) and they work well, you can even get wireless versions. No need for a PC, just put it on your network, get a fixed IP address (or DDNS), forward the port to the IP address of the camera. If this is an ongoing venture, then get yourself a domain name (only £2.95 per year, boxer-pups.co.uk is available http://www.uk-reg.com ).

Obviously there is a limit to what a camera alone can do, but if people contact by other means first and they only want to look at the pups then a camera is fine, otherwise you’ll want to setup a website, again this is simple and if you have broadband then you can do it from home and host it on any PC that is left on. If you have MS Word and Windows 2000/XP you can quickly get a website up and running.

Good luck

David
