How on earth did you break it ?

I don't recognise code 37 .... have you double checked the online manual ?

Andy, me thinks he means it has a number 37 on it, some have numbered stickers on em, only thing i can think off biggrin.gif

Yeah, the number 37 is on the front.

Someone must have one for sale or something!

How do you know it's broken ? What happened ?

What doesn't it do ?

I was kinda stoned and overconfident in my de-soldering skills. Now the car starts but then cuts out straight away and the electric fan is on. I think I must have fu*ked something up in it - probably broken the little pad things that connect to the chip or something, heh.

Unless someone has a circuit diagram so I can check connectivity around the chip and use some of that silver paint stuff. It sucks because I just managed to install the avc-r and other stuff and I haven't been able to take it on a test run yet!

The electric fan being on is indicative that the ECU has been unable to read the contents of the EPROM chip. Was that what you desoldered ? Have you put a new one in, is it a good one ?

Yeah, that's what I thought witht the engine starting and cutting out straight after, everything else seems OK. I was putting a socket in for a new EPROM and kinda made a mess of getting the old one out (That glue underneath it is annoying). I might have broken one of the tracks near the chip... it wasn't really my day I guess!

I was thinking of checking it out with a multimeter but if anyone has a spare ECU that would let me get my car working sooner.. I need it to get to job interviews and stuff!

I still haven't got my car working and my 300zx.co.uk account broke! I'm also out of a job and have no transport at all!

I'm having a crap week!

Someone did offer me a manual ECU but I'm not sure if that will work.. the auto one needs to be able to retard the timing for gearchanges but the manual one doesnt IIRC.

Will a manual ECU let me start my car and move it though?

Cheers,

John

so sorry for the bad luck you've been having m8. hang in there - it'll get better!

as for the ECU i have always been told that a manual one doesn't work in an auto.

Have you tried andyz? or b12andy? they may have one.

failing that give me an email i have another idea!
