Hi guys, have had my z for a couplea weeks now and love it :nana2: . Just a couple of questions:

1) the fuel cap release is VERY flakey. sometimes takes me 4-5 attempts to get it open.. is there a known problem with these and/or a fix. The lever by the drivers seat feels a bit loose, so could be the cables stretched?

2) There is quite a lot of "transmission whine" when the car is in gear and moving. Difficult to know if there's a problem or not, or just components getting old etc.. Not really a question, I know!

3) Does anyone make "bags" or similar for the T-bars? Haven't got anything to put 'em in, and don't like them being loose in the boot..

Thanks in anticipation

join date June 2002.....purchase zed April 2006. Now thats what I call holding out for the right one ;)

1) If car has had a respray in past, then the fuel cap can stick where the extra paint binds against fuel cap and body.

2) There is a rubber gaitor around the gearshift (under the trim) that stops transmission noises entering cabin. They often get torn and worn with age and need replacing.

3) Could try RiceRocket Uk or Supercar parts. Both in Traders section.

to do with the fuel flap, theres a small strip of metal which springs it open, bend that to the left (i think) into the flap, and it should give it more spring power.

cheers

Legrath - Maybe got the record for looking for a particular car :-) Will check the Fuel cap/respray. With regards to the transmission whine, It could be that, but if you've got the window open, or someone else is driving it, it's quite loud outside the car..

Rufio - cheers will check the "springiness" of the metal ;-)

Well, whatdya know. The springy bit has been re-sprung, the extra paint removed, and a liberal portion of wd40 applied, and its smoother than a DB9®.
