ive been told internals will hold up to around 450bhp at the wheels, then pistons start breaking. 400bhp would require bigger injectors like nismo 555s and uprated fuel pump, probably stage 2 turbos, exhaust and induction mods, chipping and youd need an uprated clutch to handle the power. if moneys a bit tighter you can still take it quite far without changing injectors, thats the stage im at if u look at the spec on mine.

also worth adding though in my opinion if i could afford to have a forged rebuild i could as its always better to be running your engine at a lower bhp than its capable of as opposed to on the edge, as obviously no 2 are the same and yours could break at a lower bhp due to age/condition. im sure one of the mechanics can give u a bit more factual info than i have. what mods u got at the moment?

so i dont need a rebuild for 400bhp then ??? What kind of money im i looking at to get it there also whats the max boost you can run on standard internals ???

yes,if you want it to last

bigger rad, intercoolers, air filter, exhaust, down pipes, injectors, ecu, bigger tubs ( i doubt you will get enough puff out of T25's) and cams, wil get you 400bhp, but for all that work you may as well get the internals done. better safe than sorry

its the internals that cost the dosh at the moment the car has been chipped, air filter hks evc and an earthing kit from there what kind of money am i looking at including the rebuild to achieve 400bhp ??

lots for a fully rebuilt lump and all the trimmings 15-25,000

internals may cost but they are the heart of your engine

15-20K I would just get a V8 with tubs. Less money outlay for a MUCH larger BHP

I think Russ meant 1500 to 2500

One too many zeros me thinks.

no. 15k-20k for a high bhp vg30det inc. tubs and manifolds, ems, internals, etc.

400bhp at the fly can be achieved with the following mods....

APexi AVC-R and AFC-II

HKS chip

HKS induction kit

HKS plugs

Decat - and mongoose exhaust

Lightened under pulley

if he did I spent WAY over the limit and I am only at 400

he only wants 400bhp!! at the f/w on a good engine you will achieve around this figure on a stock engine, tubs, injectors!

chip, boost increase, induction, exhaust. as basic mods.

lightweight f/wheel (if manual), underdrive pulley, decat as a bonus

uprated clutch if manual, gearbox if auto

im in canterbury if you want a chat bud :)

Personally I would do the internals first, make it bullit proof and then what ever you put on it, it should hold together

This is a start but you can spend a fortune on it, remember the more you stretch the elastic band the closer it is to snapping.

big boost needs less compression, weiscos seem a bit high.

>> the car has been chipped, air filter hks evc and an earthing kit

good time to invest in upgrading the brakes first !

I gota say it. Zed stock brakes are a death trap. adding power only makes the car more deadly. Sory I dont care what anyone thinks about zeds stock brakes, they are shockingly poor for a car like this.

I've not looked too far into this as I don't have the money, what sort of compression do they give?

You should be able to get thicker head gaskets to compensate I would of thought.

And if the compression is a bit high then you wouldn't need the boost so high would you?

Agree with the above.

400bhp can be achieved relativly easy on the zed with a good engine.

results here..

also the turbos have been rebuilt and have got 360 degree bearings in, run on optimax too...... 14psi boost

335hp at the wheels, they reckoned I could get a little more with a bit of playing around and the torque figure could be raised too, but i'm really happy so i won't bother.

and I love it !!!!!
