My Frong fog light switch turns on the side lights and i cant get the front fogs to work at all (just got the car)

You might have a wront cognection mate. :D

what are you calling the side lights? my sidelites are the fog lights, ie the fogs/sidelights get brighter when you turn the fogs on....... ...does that make sense :(

but the fogs only work when the lights are on, get some one to turn them on while you watch if the lights get brighter.

Your side lights will come on, as the switch for the fog turns them on anyway, could be something as simple as blown fog bulbs, both at the same time, or previous owner didn't bother to change the first one when it blew, and then the second one went after :confused:

Take your indicators out to gain access to the 3 10mm nuts on the back of your fog units (each side) then the unit will come out the front so that you can get to the bulbs. DO NOT use the screw on the front of the lens, it's for adjusting the aim of the fogs.

cheers mate i'll get them out tomorrow and have a look, i need a tail light buld so will be going to the shop anyways.

Yep, that is perfectly correct, that's what mine do, except that my fogs work :D

 

If you do need to buy a couple of bulbs, the ones you want are H3, but if they have never been changed since before it was imported, then you'll probably find that there is a bullet connector on the end of the wire, and the new ones will be spade connectors. If so you'll need to cut the female bullet off the wiring loom side and replace it with a female spade (each side) Then you can use UK spec bulbs without haveing to modify them everytime.

Same thing on my car, the front fog light fuse had been removed, and the switch operated the rear fog lights, have you checked them?

my fronts fogs work with out and side or full lights on.

good point i will check the fuse first. Is it easy to find out which fuse is the fogs? I'll have a look in a few min.

the fuse is fine, I'll get to the bulds when it stops raining and test them! My Sub fan rely is missing, anyone know what this is for?

OK the bulbs are fine and they are wired up so must be a prob somewhere else. Passed the mot without them tho so who cares!
