well to say im angry right now is an understatement....

imagine a 7ft atom bomb going off in your living room and thats me...

i had booked a plastering firm to come in today to work on the main bedroom and toilet suite for me so i can get it ready for the baby.

so i have spent the past two days clearing the room , removing old skirting boards, removing sockets and radiators etc... all ready..

theres artex on the wall but they were going to bond it and skim..

these fookers came in today while i was out working, scraped t wo patches on the wall, then pulled up a fookin brand new carpet, tossed it to the side, scraped some more and then said it cant be done and fooked off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kelly came to find me and i couldnt believe it. this comany are supposed to be an 18 years established company thats prides itself on its work and professional manner, so after ringing the boss i get crap on the phone and he hangs up on me as im going to bill him for the cleaning and refitment of the carpet.

so.. right now.. im at the point of really grabbing them by the neck and taking great care and pride in snapping thier fookin necks...

its times like this i wish i drank!!!!.. wheres me cup of fookin tea....

oh yes pic to follow!!!!!!! wait till you see this,...

Sorry to hear this mate - I hate getting tradesmen in cos you know half of them will dick you about.

One of my best friends is a plasterer based in Cardiff but I'm pretty sure he'd go to Abba. I'll happily give you his details if you want. If you're not happy with his work or the price he charges, I'll bring my Zed over and you can have it. He's an honest guy and a clever one too.

:headvswal bloody hell mate!

thats terrible! Can you maye go to the local paper or at least threaten him with it. Surley they cant do that. I gather they came and quoted for the work first?

If so then why cant it be done now?

All else fails pay them a visit!

What ever happened to customer service?

local paper for expose, watchdog for the grin, citizens advise bureau and trading standards and send them the bill :P

You should of took the carpet up in the first place but since they didnt do the job your right to be very angry i would be.

its a brand new carpet, and they should have heavy grade dust covers to do the job and cover the carpet, when i used to fit kitchens, bathrooms etc i always carried tri layer heavy duty dust sheets. as in some places you cant take the carpet up, this being one of them.. and to do this without permission is out of order too.

I am just trying to get into plastering, going self empolyed.

Done a bit before but working full time on shifts finding it very hard to do it.

Anyway even I know that you could'nt reskim over that!

Out of Order!

eh????

of course you can re skim over artex, its done by most good plasterers now, you take the tips off the artex to level it out, then seal the surface with a uni bond mix, or stable-x then you put two base skims on then the finish skim, i had artex like that in the front room and main hallway, stairwells and the upper landings, the plasterers i used before just did the above.

as artex is such a bugger to remove most plasterers offer an over skim service. good money there thats why they do it.

Yes Si your right, my bathroom and kitchen had atexed walls and I took off the worst of the points and a plasterer came and skimmed over the top.

Yep I know that but I just thought you ment they just tried putting finishing coat over.

I did somebodies vestibule the other week which was artexed.

Hmmm I am not expert but isn't it carlite bonding then Plaster for Artex.

I'm surprised they even turned up firms these days don't usually bother turning up for awkward jobs they just pick and choose.

Unless they are after a labour intensive Stud work job (bigger profits),

nope you can do two base skims then a finish skim. there is no need to use carlite if your a good plasterer.

i got one of my old plasterers coming monday ... thank fook..

Hope you get all done ok.
