When you say international do you mean from another country or the International licence which you can apply for. I have an American licence and the UK cant put points on it.

7 days to go then......

i wont be chucked in jail tho will i ?

Oh my god... i'm sooooooo nervous! First 'traffic' offence in the UK ..... in 2 years! EEK ....

Note to self: You have a brake pedal! Use it!

mean country licence (South African licence) :nana2:

HP, were you flashed in Southampton? I used to live there, where abouts are/were ya?

If the ticket comes send in the details of your SA licence along with the address on that licence.

Bitterne road west..... its a new camera they have recently put up near the bridge!

Well the car was registered in the dealers name... sold to me, and the little bit on the V5 sent off.... so its going to be registered in my name with my address on it...

Bladdy hell i just hope they dont lock me up! i'm nervous of the coppers in this placE!!!!!!!!!!

Oh right I know exactly where that is. I lived not far from there.

Lock you up? They won't do they, you'll get a fine at most.

Just for info guys you will still get points. When you receive points they go onto a shadow license, ie will never make any difference until you apply for a UK license.

For example a m8 I work with thought he would have been point free for life in UK (driving here for 8 years already). But now my work requires him to get a british license instead of the one he got in the caribean which is perfectly fine to use in the UK. But they required him to do so because of insurance reasons for our company cars.

The funny thing is, when he goes onto the UK license, this is actually his shadow license which already has 6 points on it from the past years. Now as most of you know 6 points within 1 year of passing your test, means an automatic ban. So what might happen (as he is unsure, so is DVLA as far as I am aware) is that he will pass his practical test and get banned straight away from the points he has accumulated.

Conclusion:

- Points go onto a shadow license not an international one an will never cuse you any hassle unless you have to change over for some reason.

- Fines still have to be paid.

I want to cry now!!!

First of all, only about 1 in 5 camera flashes are followed by a 'notice of intended prosecution' so you'll probably hear no more about it.

The one flash / two flash thing is irrelevant - they can all work.

If you've been driving in the UK on a foreign licence for two years you should get a UK licence I think.

Yeah its all sorted - I'm allowed to drive for one year from last date of entry.... and i've been living in the UK for 2 years but go home every year!!! :hyper: Leave this saturday for 3 weeks!!! yay.

when i get back, i've got my application for the UK licence (straight swap) so its being sorted!

Does this mean that technicly he has a provissonal uk licence??? if this is the case any points you accumilate on a provissonal licence get wiped off once you have passed you test and get your full uk licence. summary, pass uk test full CLEAN driving licence.

That means technically i'm a she.... x :hyper:

Well my m8 had his caribean license and that was it. He then had to apply for provisional, sit theory test, get some lessons to rid himself of bad habits. Now all that is left to do it pass his practical. Just like a new driver has to do.

I never thought of it that way. I will say that to him next time I see him, cos I am sure you are right about scrapping anything from provisional

Piss..... guess what i got in the post today?

£40.00 fine! They got me!! (p.s... no points though) :smw:

coppers cant touch me.. i am invincible......

I got caught speeding in america and used my brittish licence.... and no points... but when over here... i have been known to use my american licence.. lol.

cant really use my american one here any more because i have lived here for so long.. and now expired... but when i am now in america.. they dont touch me. lol

Just so you know the speed limit along there is 30 Mph.

you were lucky to get just a £40 fine! You would normally get a £60 fine and 3 points!

No he from this one ;)

BLoke with a name like hunnypie :nelson:

you were unclear as to wether it was one flash or 2. If the camera was behind you it needs to flash twice to take 2 photos to prove how fast you werre going. They use the lines on the road to determine this. The flash would have been whit. If the camera was facing you the flash would have been red and there would have only been one. These cameras work a different way. If you get a letter just return it saying you dont know who was driving the car. This worked for me as I never herd anything again.

Darrell

they have to send you ticket within 14 working days from affence.. :nana2:

I have a brother who thought the same, 2 months later he found out that you realy shouldnt take on board what some guy says in a pub for gospel.

dont beleive me, ring the DVLA

Piss..... guess what i got in the post today?

??all speeding when convicted/summonsed carries points?

there was talk of lowering the points to two for lesser offences

but i'm not sure i've ever heard of speeding being fine only??
