 My Zed has been off the road since December for various reasons, so is currently sat on my dad's driveway with no insurance and on a SORN.

Previously I was running it on Classic Insurance, with my crappy Escort as my daily driver. My new plan is to get shot of the Escort and run the Zed on a daily basis (mainly as I no longer work 20 miles away, so no need) Now the Escort insurance runs out on the 24th April, and I wanted to start up with the Zed from that date (or earlier if poss) but now comes the problem. The Zed requires some bodywork to be done to it before I put her back on the road. I estimate that it'll be at the bodyshop for about a week (give or take)

I've been waiting for a spoiler to turn up, but that is currently delayed, so i decided to book the car into my local bodyshop and get the other work done anyway, then take the spoiler in later. But I now find out that due to unforseen circumstances, my bodyshop guy can't fir her in before the 24th, so i went to see the guy I used to use, and he cant fit her in either!! :headvswal

So, as title, I'm a little pee'd off now, as it's looking like I either run the Zed without the bodywork being done (which i don't want to do) and get her in later, at a cost of not haveing a car for a week, or extend the insurance on the Escort for a month, and hope to be able to get the bodywork done ASAP.

What do you guys recon?

I've already missed the big joint meet at ferrybridge, and it's looking like I'll miss the next Midlands meet at The Boat (both in the Zed I mean) :headvswal :headvswal

sign the escort to your wife, and drive that on the 3rd party cover from the zed.job done

Signing the Escort over to my wife isn't an option, as I'm seperated (Hmm, that reminds me, I think it's about time I made that permanent)

As for anywhere other than Grantham, unless it's after I have it insured, then, legally, I darn't drive it very far.

There is (or was) a bodyshop just around the corner from me (about 500 yds away infact), I might go an see them in the morning, at least it's worth a try, but could cost me quite a bit more in £££££

sign it to a mate then.....

Doesn't it have to be insured by the other person? I see where you're coming from, but just thought that the car has to be insured by someone else to be used in this way, or maybe not, I'm not sure

ive never had to produce proof of that, so i cant say for sure mate, but i got stopped in my mrs car, and produced my insurance, and they never asked for it

IIRC....... your insurance may cover another car third party, BUT as you say the car already needs insurance on it. :( So no help for you mate.
