Dash kits for RHD

Those of you that have fitted carbon fibre/ aluminium/ wood trim dash kits in your Z's - what did you do about the pieces that fit around the elec window switches on either door. I assume you bought a kit from the US and so their LHD versions won't fit the RHD we all got. Or am I missing a trick??

It looks like the rest of the bits are same for LHD and RHD?

Featured Replies

ours has a wood trim kit fitted in japan which includes the window switches, so maybe try to source one from japan

I've seen a Zed with the carbon 'effect' trim fitted...

... IMHO, it's nasty, just bits of stuck on plastic, very Nova Boyz.

Clarkey, is the interior of yours like this?

tim yes thats the exact stuff but in ours it goes right the way up to the top of the vents in the centre.

I found a kit via the aussy forum from edashkit.com that includes the bits round the targa top handles, cabin lights, front demisters and vents. Most comprehensive kit I've seen. They did a rhd version for aussies so should be ok. Only $150. I'm trying to check on the quality. I've not ordered yet. Just doing the ol' research. Anyone else interested for about 6 weeks time?

Clarkey - where did you get your kit from. Its a nice moulded kit. Most i've seen are just flat kits.

Coogs I'd definately be interested if it was a moulded kit of good quality.

Coogs,

Those moulded wooden dash kits were a Nissan option for the Japanese market. As far as I know, no one else has copied it in either wood or other material.

Shame.

Brian, all I've found are the flat kits. Its pers pref but I think they look ok having seen a few cars with them fitted. I am going for brushed ally but edashkit do a range incl wood and carb fibre. Don't know about quality yet.

Does that mean there's a part number for it then?

I've looked in the US fiche but if it was only on Jap cars then it won't be in there.

Any ideas anyone?

Tim

I'll be up for a kit - brushed aluminium aswell if any good. Paul.

Hi Tim,

I doubt that there's a part number for it as it was "dealer installed option". Just like in the US you can order a car with all the bits you want and still get dealer specific items added to it. My dad ordered a Caddilac STS back in '95 with all the bells and whistles from the factory and then asked the dealer to install a 12 speaker 500W stereo and special alloys. Much in the same way was the dash kit for the Zed a dealer installed option in Japan.

I have an ex-colleage who is moving to Tokyo in April. He's the guy who originally infected me with the ZX virus many years ago. Once he's there I'm going to ask him to "shop around" for Zed bits that are only available in Jap Land. Perhaps he'll come across these dash kits as well. Will keep you all posted.

Take it easy mate!

Has anybody considered Joshua Tree? See this link: http://www.woodtrim.com/catalog_detail.cfm?prod=2008

I've had a note back previously from ray@woodtrim.com "Please tell us what pieces need to be mirrored and then I can give you a quote", but I have not followed up (with my car still at the garage). A group buy would make it more cost effective, but we would have to help with template details.

They have a good selection of various woods, carbons and ally as you can see (there are more woods available too, than seen on the display - Denali Grey, etc..).

They differ from the edash in the pieces they offer (edash has a number of air vent surrounds..., Joshua has speedo bits....).

reference also http://www.edashkit.com/shop/images/nissan300zx9096.gif

I would be willing to help arrange, etc..., but not having my car for a couple more weeks I don't have a reference point.

Of interest - look whos car they feature.

might be interested in group buy on brushed alloy kit...

Robb

Joshua tree don't do a rhd version (needed for the door switches) and the kit is not as comprehensive as edashkit (roof bits etc), and more money. Edashkit have done a rhd for aussy forum. If Joshua wants to play ball however I'm all for it. And they're quality is a known factor (i.e good).
