Traders input into Membership Packs

FAO all traders.

As you all know, we're still trying to finalise the Membership packs for distribution in the near future (ideally before the end of April).

I know Mac has already posted about traders offering some form of welcome discount for new members and some of you have expressed an interest. Some have said that if everyone gets the pack, how do they know who's new and who's not.

I would like to propose a more suitable method that should satisfy all our traders: Each trader design an A4 "flyer", get them printed and post to myself. I will then include the flyers in the Membership packs. If a trader would like to offer an initial discount and advertise it on their flyer, it's their choice. The most important thing isn't the discount, it's the flyer, giving our new members detail of who is trading on the board and what kind of additional technical support they could have by joining the club.

The design of the flyer would be totally down to each individual trader. If they would like B&W/Colour/plain paper/glossy paper, it's their decision. Some traders who sell many different things may want to have a full A4 flyer for themselves, however, some traders may sell a limited amount of gear and they may want to half the A4 flyer with another trader, or even three traders on a sheet, obviously sharing the cost. It doesn't really matter, it's up to you.

Please leave your thoughts/comments.

I can leave my address once we have agreement. I would ask for a speedy response, as we really need to push ahead with this. Ideally I would like the flyers completed and dispatched to me by Easter at the latest.

Thanks in advance for your support

Would be happy to design a flyer as a file (JPG/GIF etc) and send electronically but dont really fancy printing & sending, shouldnt the price of printing these flyers be included in the membership fees ?

Thanks for the response Chris. I'll need to run that by the rest of the committee and see what they think.

Great idea Steve. I do share the same concerns as Chris, but have'nt yet looked into printing costs. Current membership number seem to be 700+ , so I guess we would be looking at printing 1000 flyers (to cover future use).

I would agree about 1000

Don't forget though Dave, you could half the cost (or even third it) by sharing the space with other small traders, if you didn't want a full A4 flyer for yourself.

Sounds like a great idea, but the printing costs are an issue for me as well. Please let us know what the committee response is Steve..

Many thanks

Steve :)

Maybe the committee could organise a discounted printers to print all of them? Then it'd simply be a case of the traders emailing a jpeg and paying whatever price it is. This would save on postage all round too.

We'll have to come to an agreement on printing costs, however, in the meantime, can we please push on with your flyer designs. At least when we have agreement, everything will be in place to press the print button.

Don't think that would be appropriate, the club shouldn't pay for your advertising.

You want us to put it in the pack, not the other way round. The pack is something that the club should be providing through the membership fee, these flyers as the clubs idea should be included in that fee.

We're giving you the opportunity for some cheap direct advertising and it would be delivered with other club materials (for free). Don't push your luck ! LOL :D

Im in agreement with Andy, good oppatunity this chaps!

In fairness Chris it's not the clubs idea as such about us advertising via flyers.

When Bandit was appointed club secretary and knowing his skills on the ole PC i asked him to make some advertising gear up for me and i said that i would offer a load to the club to put in any eventual packs.

We were then all asked about it on here so all traders had the oppurtunity to do the same.

From my own prespective it is mearly a way of advertising to pretty much the entire club community and obviously as such I would pay what ever it costs to do it.

The commitee's only benefit ( if you could call it that) is by having something to "beef" up the membership pack and they actaully post them all out for us ;)

So in short at the end of the day if anyone wants to advertise by way of flyers, then the club secretary will do it for us, if you don't, then that's cool too.......

Good idea though for the smaller type traders to club together for one main flyer ;)

Just my 2p worth fellas.

cheers

Think you've hit the nail on the head their Paul.

I'm sure if every member recieves details of what their traders have to offer, they will definately encourage more sales. Your absolutely right, the committee's only benefit is to fill out the membership packs and we mustn't forget that any monies in the club belongs to the members not the committee. We can't expect the members to pay for the traders advertisements.

At the end of the day, if traders do want to half or third the cost with other tarders, I don't think it will cost the earth.

If you have already done yours Paul, can you give us some idea on how much it cost you and are you going to post them on to me for distribution?

Cheers

Where are we at with this - has anyone looked into printing/postage costs? If we could arrange a "bulk print" at one printers I'm sure the lot would be cheaper all round for all the traders participating :) , plus there would only need to be one postage charge, from the printers to the club sec.

Will look into it. Only just read this so Sorry will try and be quick. Is there a cut off date for these to be done ? Anyone had theres printed yet ?
