I have installed network cards on my PC and laptop and set up a network however the PC shows "Limited or no connectivity..." I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 and tried the hotfix however no joy. Any other suggestions please?

right, now i get you! sorry matey. Got my wires crossed then :D (no pun intended)

Right so via ethernet on dhcp the desktop connects to the internet right?

YES

so there's no issue with the connectivity of the router to the net so it must be something wrong with the pc setup.

When you stick the card on dhcp does it bring up a list of wireless networks?

I WILL CHECK AGAIN AFTER EASTENDERS!

:headvswal

So the laptop works fine and the PC works ok if you use the ethernet port? So the issue is the wireless set up on the PC. I would put money on it not being installed correctly...defo a software issue with the card and set up...

Turn off any firewalls, including the inbuilt XP one, then bring up a dos box (start, run then type CMD)

Type ipconfig /all then tell us what it says. (Ensure it is set up for DHCP first). It should give you an IP address.

I now have network connection via PC however it still will not access internet wirelessly. Laptop connects to internet wirelessly but the two computers don't seem to see each other in the network?
