OK OK so what the heck is that little jobbie for???

Down at the chester meet today and someone pointed out something very strange!!!

Filled his car up with optimax (im really sorry mate i cant remember ur name again!!! even though u did follow me for ages!) and then noticed a stranghe whirring noise in his zed. Turns out that in the centre bar between the targas in between the courtesy light and the reading lights, there is a really small fan!!!! WIERD or what! there are two little slats for it and we all just wanted to know........... What exactly does it do????

It's the aspirator fan for the upper cabin temperature sensor.

Those fans clog up with dust and the bearings stick. Sometimes they take a jolt and start up again.

That's a pretty good description of my CPU fan.

does anyone know the exact size of that fan cos we need a replacement ours it really loud me and my dad have both given it some pretty hard smacks but it doesnt help frown.gif wink.gif

dont know the cost of it but i do know if you give it a blast with a can of k/board air duster and then a blast of wd40 it will cure the problem i know it did for me about 8 months ago

hmm, dont have a compressed air can but at the garage we can use the compressor air line would that do the job or would it blow the crap out of the fins wink.gif?

It would probably do the trick !

I've not looked at the fan but you might be able to replace it with either a cpu or a chipset cooler fan.

hmm k well im getting a camera to borrow tommorrow, so I can take some pics for all you lot to see, i need to see if i can find the make of the wood trim for tt tim and ill look at that fan while im there.

it keeps the car from sticking to the floor, just like a hoover craft...mine does it too ust pull the case off and clean it m8. it'll come back from time to time.

If you've got auto aircon you've got a little fan between the targas. It works a bit like the air flow sensor-Little wire senses the cabin temp and signals to the air con system to heat up/cool down. Fan draws the air in over the wire. Spray with WD40 and forget.
