Hello all,

When I got my Zed I was going to use it as my everyday car, but now I've seen just how quickly the petrol guage moves down I've had a re-think!! Now I'm thinking of keeping my Cav V6 as a 'run-around' and keeping the super-car for the weekends and showing off in general...

Does anyone use their Zed as a second car and get classic car insurance on it? If so, could you tell me what company you're with and roughly how much you pay on limited mileage?

Any input on this would be much appreciated as I'm currently paying just under £1000 to insure my ZX as my only car!!

Cheers

Welcome to the club mate.

I also used my ZX as an everyday car - back then I was paying £475 fully comp with Bell Direct. However as I wanted to keep my low mileage UK spec ZX as just that, I now have a daily driver and insure the ZX as a classic car.

I use Carol Nash, 5k miles p/a (although I can go up to 6k without major issues); agreed value, free breakdown cover for around £260 fully comp.

I am also allowed to use the car for occasional commuting unlike some other classic policies.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I use Houghtons,

Costs me about £380 per year. 29 years old, mods as below, 5000 mile limit and £100 excess. Guess I am in quite a low/moderate risk area here in Surrey.

Righto, thanks for that, I'll try those. Mine's mostly standard so I should save quite a bit hopefully...

Having said that I am 24, so that may work against me.

If anyone else has their Z insured as a limited mileage classic, please let me know!!

Christian,

Just a word of warning, you may have a bit of an issue with your age. Most classic policies prefer you to be 30 or over and wont even touch you untill your 25!

There is a few Zedders under 25 in the club though and I am sure they can give you some good advice. I will try and fine one of them for you now!

Good luck!:D

I'm 24 and use a admiral was expensive at first, but now i only pay 410 fully comp :)

Hmmm, damn my age!!

I'll have a look around, hopefully some insurers will lower their prices if I absolutely promise not to crash.

I saved £200 by changing my Chavalier insurance from Tesco to Barclays today, so I'm on the right track anyway!

Classic insurance is prob going to be out of your reach at that age. I cant even get classic cause they've raised the damn age you have to be yet AGAIN.

im 26 & have tryed all the companys mentioned for a classic policy but with no luck need to be atleast 30 yrs old :xxx:  :headvswal unless i had a uk model zed.

i'm 25 and got a classic policy from houghtons!

Heritage classic insurance.... 400 quid and i was 25 when i got insured with them... on a twin turbo

I highly recommend Houghtons, Ken or Duncan at Houghtons are very helpful.

Ive just had my renewal from them, last year my insurance (300zx TT fully comp £100 excess limited to 3000 miles) was £209.This year it has gone DOWN  to £178 how good is that eh????

Oh btw Im an old gadger (44) but still a great deal!!
