i was on the GTR forum today & was surprised to read a thread were a r33 gtr owner was struggling against a focus rs in a straight line untill the gtr reached 100 mph plus he seems quite dissapointed but i suppose the focus rs isnt a slow car but i would have thought the gtr would have no probs gainst the rs ?? so that means the rs would give a zed few problems as well

i would have thought so, I raced a focus rs near heathrow airport, upto about 40 we were neck and neck then i pulled away, i have an auto twin turbo with blueflame zorst and apexi filter, i thought i would be slower but the few launches that we did I pulled away. However i was sure if the driver of the focus could shift gears better he would have had me upto about 50/60 then the 300zx torque would allow me to surge ahead.

i would have thought stock for stock the gtr r33 would kill the focus.

Id say the R33 owner didnt do a good job of driving it, or the Fookus was tuned!!

Ive raced both (and beat em both) but the R33GTR was only 0.03sec behind me when the Frickus was awhole 1.5secs!!

I've played with one on motorway, accelerating from and up to various differnet speeds as traffic clears and then gets in the way again. Believe me...there is no competition. They are quick, but certainly not GTR and Zed quick.

I raced one in my old knackered S13 with a smokey tub and was only just off the pace...they are in a lower leauge than the skyline....

I think it is down to the driver. My m8 raced an Escort Cosworth a couple of nights ago on some twisties. The guy was much quicker in a straght line but he got hammered on the corners. The funny thing was, my m8 was just driving his 2.2 Vectra SRi only has 150 bhp. Again this just showed that he was a better driver round the corners than the cossi driver.

I wouldnt have thought the GTR would get beat, I thought the focus was a bit underpowered to even stand a chance.

I have raced an R32 and beat it, on a private track ofcourse.

Haven't raced an Focus RS but had a go with the New Focus ST 2.5 Turbo thinggy the other day... Again there very quick but more of a match for GT4 ST205 Celicas or Suburu's etc... The ZXTT is in a totally differnt leauge and you should be able to anhilate one with ease, even if you're running standard boost..

easy to beat in a straight line but make sure ur not behind one when they brake as they have serious brakes.

hi just to let you guys know i raced a brand new focus st down the a40 today, it was very quick... bbut not as quick as the zed.

Chip an RS Focus and you have a seriously quick car! Don't forget how cheap and easy you can tune a Ford compared to Jap cars. He was prob running 30psi!

A mildly tuned RS wouldn't have much of a problem against a standard Zed TT or GTr R33. There are quite a few 300bhp RS's around.

On another forum I use, there's already a map for the Astra VXR in development using standard internals/turbos already hitting 304bhp

i think djthomo is looking at one of those VXR's for his missus, personaly i would go for the ford.

304bhp through the front wheels, any turn on the wheels and they are going to light up. my rs turbo had about 211 fwhp and that would do the same. fooking quick car though.

I like the new ST, sounds much nicer than the VXR, but the VXR looks nicer and contrary to the test on top gear, the handling's a match for the ST as on TG the VXR shown was actually a VXR test platform using SRi suspension components.
