I was just about to ask about this. It's utter *****cks really. Why? Because I cover about 4,000 a year in my zed and I still pay more than Mondeo Man who does 100,000 a year....

I have Radio 2 on here and I thought they said this new £210 a year tax band would only be on cars bought from September this year onwards.

I could be wrong.

Sounds about right, I've just looked at the DVLA VED list and it does mention about rules being valid after a certain year of manufacture.

I thought fuel duty was frozen.

It is, but this is road tax.

Sorry, I was refering to the link that Matz posted. There's increase in fuel duty listed in that.

If i use my low emissions punto every day for work and going places, and my 300 for sunday driving. Surely theres going to be more fumes coming from my punto then my 300?

Why do high emission cars have to pay more when they'll probably do less miles on the road then low ones!

This country is fooked, did you know that these armholes have made 22 new taxes since they came into power in 1997 and they continue to rise without you realising it.

They collect 4.2 billion, yes billion a year from road users and where does it all go?

It goes to paying surgeons over £100k a year while letting them cancell opperations to do private ones because that pays more, which then makes junior docs work 3 million hours a week for pittence, and then when the NHS has spent god knows how much training them, they clear off cos they have to work too many hours.

It also goes to the rail network..................... got to stop before I explode with rage

Having left the NHS, you are spot on there but you missed the point that most of the funds for new staff also go to inventing new management posts, for which there is no need.

The solution to congestion is to get all that foreign freight back on the rail network where it belongs and not on our fookin motorway network. These foreign distibution companies fill up their tanks abroad, wear out our roads delivering to other subsidised foreign companies over here, then fill up abroad again on their way back to base. Makes me proud to be British

Passage from the budget release

"Vehicle excise duty (VED)

To further strengthen environmental incentives, the Government announces the introduction of a new higher band of Graduated VED (band G) for the most polluting new vehicles (those above 225g of CO2 per kilometre) registered after 22 March 2006, set at £210 for petrol cars, and the reduction of the VED rates for small number if cars with the very lowest carbon emission (band A) to £0 to assist the development of the low carbon car market."

too many desk jockies - we have been overtaken by lawyers, laws and beaurocracy. So many inefficent jobs, and people creaming off unfairly. (all IMO).

So much for LABOUR and social democracy ?! Power to the rich more like !

Who now represent the poor/Mr. average who breaks his back with honest hard work ?

now then heres one to confuse you, as mine is a 1990 import does the date of registration apply to first reg in japan in 1990 or first uk reg in 2004? if 2004 then i have to be taxed using the graduated ved table, so judging that mies a swb tt what bracket am i likely to fit into?
