Cheers

yes! standard is 87mm, biggest 'safe' size is said to be 89mm, some go to 90mm but this would make the cylinder walls very thin!

im going for 88mm eventually.

Crikey, I was expecting a bit more than that for some reason. What CC are you looking at with 88mm, about 3100?

Thanks for the info...

afaik 89mm gives just over 3.1 and 88mm just under. the big boys like macca use stroker kits, which are hoooojly expensive but give a bigger capacity in other ways (which im not to sure how!) ;)

Stroker kits make the stroke longer, hence the name stroker. They also change the caracturistics (spelling?) of the engine, i:e the torque and power peak at different points. They are the only way to go for certain applications, but if its street you want then you would benifit from a more square stroke and concentrate on getting the engine to rev more freely.

Light flywheel, balanced and lightened crank, rods and pistons, ported gas flowed and balance heads, and the right cams will work wonders even on standard tubs.

You do need to spend the money but then only a fraction of the cost of an M3 which would look and feel like a Saxo :p

my pistons are 90mm 3.2ltr. but the engine aint in the car yet lol
