just lifted this off the gt4 board, suggest you let others know, i've just emailed them and asked to be removed.

This is absolutly genuine:

This possibly the most disturbing website I have come accross:

The website http://www.b4usearch.com has been brought to my attention that may pose a risk.

By clicking on 'People' and typing in an individuals name and area it brings up their home address, phone number,

details of other members in the household and a list of all the neighbours in the same street and a map of the street. You can also get directions to that persons house!

It is most likely that your details will be on this site as it is based on the electoral roll. I would advise that if your details can be accessed via this website, that you have them removed. To do this send an email to privacy@b4u.co.uk and your request should be removed within 21 days if they are not removed within this time you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office by sending an email tocompliance@ico.gsi.gov.uk

From their privacy thing:

Provision of Your Data to Third Parties

The data you provide to B4U is held by B4U and the sponsors of the questionnaires you answer. B4U holds your data in a central database and this database is only accessed by reference to interest categories in order to provide you with information about those interests you have selected. The process of supplying you with this information is at all times under the control of B4U although specialist third party suppliers may carry out the dispatch of emails.

and...

Use of External Suppliers

B4U may from time to time use third party suppliers to provide all or part of a service to you. B4U shall only be entitled to supply such of your personal information as is necessary to enable them to provide the relevant service to you. You should be aware that such outside service providers might be based in countries outside the European Union whose laws provide for a different standard of protection for your personal data than that provided under English law. In such circumstance B4U will have in place contractual arrangements which will require your data to be processed at least to a standard compliant with the Data Protection Act 1988.

Not sure I get the thing about questionairres, but they are saying that they farm out details to 3rd parties worldwide as well. W~nkers.

Just for interest I just looked up a girl from work who is really quite nice. Now I know her address, phone no. that she lives with a bloke and lives in a strangely named house. Creeeepy.

You can choose to be ex-directory. And it won't tell you who I live with, which is way too far IMO.

Both my parents are on there and we are X directory! The ****ers are getting an e-mail!

it's only a search engine guys - you can easily get this information (and more) from other websites... 192.com is a good starting point for tracing people. (I have to trace debtors for work)

Rich

its ill that this is freely available but like others have said, this information is available in other places too...

the most disturbing thing ive ever seen is this:

http://www.ogrish.com

:D
