Speaker Sizes

Being a bloke and soon to be owner of a 91 300TT, the first thing I will do is service it (obviously) the second is change the ICE, I've already got a top head unit, which leaves me only one question, what size are the front & rear speakers in the Z?

Featured Replies

6.5" fronts and 7*5" rears. there are some people who have jammed 6*9" in the rears though,

but these sizes are the biggest ones you can squeze into the original holes.

(and you still get no bottom end through the rear speakers - unless you custom build some enclosures)

(The Japs @ Nissan weren't all bassheads unfortunatly)

hanks guys, I might have to do some cleaver sound proofing with the rear ones.....

I thought the size of the rear speakers varied depending on year and import/UK model. Is that not right?

mine are 6 by 4's!HAVE JUST FINNISHED! mangling the speaker hangers, and have just squeezed 13cm sony components in there!!!( and yes they are round, I made a plate to go underneeth to strengthen it and to cover the gaps left by the originals. With geting a component set I also got tweeters which I put on the rear pilars behind your head(the ones that the boot close on to. After a lot of mangling and tin bashing, oh and bloody sore fingers it sound pretty good. No cheast exploding bass but a nice balanced sound.

Oh by the way it is a bitch to get at the hangers without dismantling half the interior!!!

good luck kris

well I fitted custom made steel housings to hold 6x9 and you still can't get a decent base respond, not bad treble and mid range , so the only way with the shape of the Zed is to fit a sub woofer if you want decent base...... only my humble opinion.

6x9's in front doors OEM 16.5 in rear pods for in fill and as many subs as you can fit in the boot sounds ok on jap import! Or you could speak to Tooley and remortage your house if you want more than that!!!LOL I still need that old sub box you have festering in the back of your car Tooley you know it makes sense ROFL See Ya Sunday

if ure going on sunday i'll bring the board plan for you....lol old sub box you know its unique as soon as i get my box man to make me a four sub one then its yours m8
