I know someone with a 90 300 Na. Its been off the road for a couple of years because it has a fault and he doesn't know what to do about it. Basicly sometimes it will start and sometimes it just turns over without even trying to fire, it could also cut out for no reason.

Im sure I once read about the power transistor being the usual cause but I cant remember any details.

Any Ideas?

Paul..

Check the Voltage and Clean the PTU connectors and the TPS ones also - real easy to do. If cleaning doesn't fix the problem chances are a new PTU is in order - it is a Recall item in the states so its failure should come as no supprise - If he is on the cheap i think the PTU is alot cheaper in the states than it is over here.

the PTU was also a recall item in the UK, as i have the paperwork with my car history.

But being NA, it is an import, so unlikely to be covered.

They are not that expensive though are they ?

I'll dig out the paperwork wheni get home today.

Really,

I heard that the PTU was only recalled in the US and Not in Europe.

Hope it is a Recall then off my call will go down to Nissan to get the Dam thing changed hehe. Even tho it is currently working :o)

Even if the part number is EXACTLY the same in Europe, I have a letter from Nissan Europe stating that on EURO cars, there's NO recall...interestingly...if the car is an US import, then NISSAN would grant the recall....morons...

Anyway...what you want to do is..

Get the PTU KIT (NOT the PTU ALONE...it's MORE EXPENSIVE)

The kit part number is: 22020-97E25

Go and get it from courtesy Nissan....and BE SURE to state that you're a TT.NET member (you are, aren't you.....)

It should be around US$ 150.00

Zee you

Henri
