   Hiya,

Newbie here. I dont have a 300, i have a 200 (S14a) and it is an auto.

Following on from this thread on the sxoc BB - http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=198213

Does anyone know if i will be able to make a Z32 TT auto box work with an SR engine and Transmission Control Module

I assume i will need new gearbox mounts, a new propshaft - anything else?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers :)

are they? no worse than any other auto and considering the power they can handle probably better than most, and like any other zx part looked after will

last the life of the car, abuse it and drive like a knob then don't be surprised at the outcome;)

The auto boxes from what I gather from this site are not very strong.

I don't know many people here who sing their praises.

My car also isn't an auto so I'm not a disgruntled owner voicing his view either.

Well I disagree ive had no problems from mine in two years and i am a Mechanic so i keep my Zed well Maintained! As above post really depends how you treat/lookafter your car. :)

but had or driven one m8??

i will never voice an opinion about the manual in the zx cos ive never had one

but seen many posts about uprated clutches etc

maybe a few who have done conversions, who are not happy, but A LOT more who are perfectly happy with the auto, starting on my third year with mine, never been driven like a limo either, but just had its 2nd fluid change

a thing most people forget;)

also i think there are far more auto cars on this forum, so % wise it follows...........

so not to sure about the not many people sing their praises bit??

The autoboxes are brill upto around 60-70k miles, show them some boost and hard driving and they will fall apart.

I know someone who killed his stock box in two weeks of ownership, and killed an SE /Nistek one within four weeks running a bar of boost.

I loved my auto, yes they are good boxes, but most are well over 70k now and won't take you running high bhp or giving them a good caining for long. No stock or rebuilt auto boxes (like the ex nistek one) will take high boost for long. You need to get a propper purpose built one for it to last.

Cheers!

id have to agree if your gonna up your boost and seriously mod

then don't neglect the box

bit like keep buying new tyres and not bothering with balancing/tracking

but still expect the same life out of them

i do know someone who had 2 2ND HAND boxes

again to me false econemy, as your buying someone else's problems

and who knows what life they had?

But Not forgetting the most important Upgrade on an Auto Zed which will make it last a Lot longer is an Uprated Oil Cooler since they do overheat easier at higher boost/Harder driving which is one of the most common problems people forget about!

The Boxes themself are very Strong if kept cool. :)

Very true, mine was UK spec, but the UK one's still die easily after 60-70k and a bit of boost.

A good condition one will take 400BHP without complaining - that's a massive upgrade in power terms over an SR one, which is what they OP wants I believe :)

I was well impressed with my old one

Don't know if VG/SR one's are interchangeable though, I wouldn't have thought it'd be easy :(
