21 is ignition signal

34 is knock sensor

  • Author

is it right that the ignition signal and the knock sensor would just stop working even when the car has not been used or could this be a knackerd ecu

Check the harness on PTU and ECU. Make sure you havent done ECU one too tight as it causes the harness to bend and causes a bad connection in the plug. Has the car been inside ?

  • Author

ptu thats on the cam cover isnt it? double checked the plug on the ecu it looks fine no bent pins not that tight yes its been inside but im told that sometimes it does get a little damp in the garage its in

thanks southwestzmech whats this knock sensor do I need to look at that too thanks again for the help bud;)

I presume car had been started and driven since chip was fitted, and this is'nt the first time you've tried it ? Its just that corrupt or incorrectly fitted chip would also cause similar problems.

no it hasent been started or moved since chip change do you think its knacked ecu legrath

That is right under the plenumn at the back. Pretty sure you wont get to it without removing plenumn. Maybe just the wiring on ECU or PTU. We hope

In that case most probably. Have you old ECU ?

does your aux rad fan also kick in when you turn the ignion on? (another sign of corrupt chip or incorrectly fitted chip)

Maybe ! try and get hold of another one from someone to try it. first of all take the plug off and refit just incase.

okey dokey ill try and get a new ecu maybe someone is selling one on here for not to much thanks for all the help

is the aux. fan also on ? if so, then the ECU is in failsafe mode and can mean 3 things: either ECU is damaged or there is a problem with the chip or the main harness connector isn't seated correctly

Before you run off and start laying cash out mate, only takes minutes to swap the ECU over, at least try one from another Zed and if that cures it, take the chip out of your ECU and either put back the stock one or another chip.

I put mine in wrong once and had same symtoms, replaced with new chip correctly fitted and job done :)
