by the way, it dont half feel strange when you drive it for the first time after changing the bushings, a lot tighter in the stick.. mine was as floppy as a bag of spanners..

The bushings seem fine in ours but there's still a fair amount of slop. You can see that the actual lever going into the gearbox is moving about. In addition, at around 6000rpm, the gearstick rattles violently. There appears to be a UJ on the end nearest the gearbox (according to the service manual), could this be loose?

check the gearbox bracket, commonly the rubber support bridge breaks causing the lever to drop and feel sloppy its the bracket under both gators and holds the lever up via a 12mm nut

Mine was loose and wobbly, bought the bushes from Nissan £2.50 each.

But when I had clutch done, obviously something else was loose, guess what Greg said above, and all was fine!!

Waste of £5 doh, lol

Mmm, I think I see what you mean but if you don't mind, I'll get you to have a look in a couple of weeks time when in comes into Z-Tech.

Cheers,

Mine is sloppy as well but I am getting a short shifter fitted will I still need to buy bushings as well or do short shifter kits come with new bushings?
