right heres the sketch, im only 21 young yes i know, only had a full license over year, did have a 200sx insured but cancelled the insurance as it broke so aint got any no claims. and i need to get insurance on a jap spec TT. yep thats gonna be hard i hear u say! need to work out some ideas though

if i had another cheaper car that i was fully comp on i.e a 1 litre uno or something equally hideous would i not be 3rd party to drive any other car? i.e the zed?

or whats the sketch with being a 2nd driver on my old mans insurance?

anyone got any suggestions? please explain them if u have! i know yes its gonna cost big time, i earn a hell of a lot for my age, so that aint a problem but obviously i want it cheap as possible, and just 3rd party as fully comp would kill me. on the plus side its gonna be garaged in a very low crime area and aint looking at doing too many miles.

cheers guys j

If it is less then 2 years since you cancelled your old insurance (on 200SX), I believe that you should be able to get a statement from your old insurer with regards to your old No Claims. Believe that this could work, but not 100% sure. Give your old insurer a call and check if they will/can provide a statement of your old No Claims.

YES, i am an insurance guy

OK, as for cheap insurance on a zed at 21 . . . its not going to happen mate.

Some companies will take note of your previous no claims for up to 2 years but if its past that then very little if any chance.

you may get a 1 years introductary bonus from a lot of companies if your lucky.

As for driving another car TPO(Third Party Only) you will be lucky to get a policy like that at your age (normally 25), also with my company you can drive other cars TPO even if you only have TPO or Third party fire and theft cover so it doesn't have to be comp cover only.

It might be an idea to see if you can get a limited mileage policy or/and a classic policy depending on what year zed you get.

With you not having any NCB it may also be an idea to look at the 10month bonus accelarators which basically means that you get 1 years NCB after 10 months instead of 12.

Policies underwritten by admiral do these type of policies (admiral, elephant, bell i think etc)

rufiozxtt the company who are doing the NCB for named drivers is Direct line, Im not sure but i would assume it'll be 25's plus and they'd only offer you the amount of NCB for the amount of time you have been on that policy WITH THEM.

so if the policy has been with them for 2 yearsand you have been on that pol the entire time they may offer you 2 years NCB, now if the policy has been with them for 2 years and you have been on it for 1 year they'd only offer 1 year NCB.

They probably have criteria to meet also such as minimal claims/convictions etc.

I know we do anyway and looking from a business point of view ya dont want to give a high risk driver a cheaper premium because it costs your more if they do claim.

Hope this helps a bit mate

cheers for all your help guys, that zenith sounds an idea, i can probably cope with paying up to 2 grand. so any cheaper than that will be awesome. rufio how much r the flux charging u? interested, as i remember trying to insure my s13 with them a while back and they qouted something daft!

I pay 1100 quid TPFT-23years/3years ncb-Skyline experience/parked on drive/cat1/with Flux.

TBH as others have said cheap insurance aint gona happen.Remember insuring the damn thing is one thing, but keeping it on the road is entirely different.

oh and can someone explain classic insurance in a nut shell? mines a 1990 g reg zed if that helps?

Classic insurance is usually for second car only and a set limited miles. So you'll need a daily car under your own name. Most companies that do classic insurances requires you to have the car in a garage. Though your unlikey to get any sort of quote for classic insurance due to your age. You have to be at least 28 years old from the companies that I've called up to even get quoted on classic insurance. That or they just dont like me...!

fook me thats cheap. whats the limitations? is that 3rd party only or what? soudns unbelieavbly cheap! u got any no claims

limited mileage to 10k a year, third party fire and theft, 3yrs no claims. thats it. you know whats awesome, being 20 and being able to beat nearly everything on the road :) which reminds me im might be able to get discounts on track days at goodwood, but ill find out 2moro.

Because mine only goes as fast as a fiesta :x:

Na ill give ya's a clue.

try adding older brother/sister/mam or dad to the policy or maybe 2 of them, even though they will not drive the car just have them on, the rating system will then take into account that there's not just you driving the car and that there is a couple of experienced drivers driving it too :smash:

Now just watch what it does to your premium and also tell us :duffer:

Im 22, with admiral, fully comp, 3 years no claims, all for £1300. Putting my dad on as well saved me £3-400.

Good grief, so there are times it's good to be an old fart, well ok maybe not that old (42).

Just transferred my existing insurance for my Rover 800 that runs out in June, swapped to an imported TT I'm picking up on Friday, cost me just £40 extra. On that basis I should be able to get a years insurance for around £400.

I'm currently with Norwich Union Direct but will definately ring around before I renew.
