when i put it in drive or any gear theres is a slight knocking noise from box, when moving you cant hear it only when stopped.gearbox feels fine ,but just that i have never heard it before as my aircon bearings was making aload of noise.

is this something to worry about or is it a normal ..like i said its a slight knocking noise .seems like its going with the speed of engine if you see what i mean.

thanks

I aint no expert but! any knocking is not good. I dont wish to piss on your fireworks but I would have it checked out. if it gets faster with the engine then it sounds like something may have broken could be the torque converter. As I said no expert tho'

Whatever it is I hope it dont give you too much grief mate.

When my autobox went there was a knocking noise with a metallic grating at the same time whenever I pulled away or came to a stop. Sounded like it came from the passenger footwell. After about a week it became more and more reluctant to go into overdrive and the oil went a brown colour and smelt burnt so I knew then for definate what the problem was, you sure its not suspension noise as the car goes into drive and you get the slight lurch forward?

Got to say it does not sound promising from that, why not give Ryan a ring and have a chat about it, hes the man that sorted mine out when it went and its like driving a new car now hes sorted it, nice positive gear changes.

how much did it all cost mate

well worth changing the auto transmission fluid m8

if the filter gets blocked it will also make a noise

as you say hard to know just from a description

but for the amount it costs and the £££££££££s it can save you

worth doing m8

Could be worth a try first, drop the pan at the bottom of the box, clean the filter, if you havent got an aftermarket cooler fitted then do so and then refit with new oil, see what happens. Worst you are going to do is waste 20 quid and a couple of hours of a weekend. Oh and catch flu (these things always happen at winter time)
