ok we having a domestic about 4x4 i watched a programme on discovery that said the porsche Cayenne went round the Nurburgring faster than a skyline .. and all i got was abuse but thats what it said . so we argueing alot about this because i think they are possibly quite good but him who must be obayed (cannot spell it ) says they are the abortion fetus that porsche picked off the design table and put big wheels on it and a load of body work to make it then reach the floor .... so who wins ....? :headvswal

I`ve driven a Cayenne, the 5ltr turbo one, trust me, them fookers shift. Dunno about handling on a circuit but on a road a very quick motor.

I was looking into buying a Range Rover Sport to run around in but the MPG is far worse than my Z so fook that LOL

its me she's havin the domestic with lol... and quite frankly I stand by what I say, yeah its fast, yeah... apparently it handles well but really its a ugly, messed with 911 with big wheels soley aimed at the rich poser/desperate housewife crowd who will only take the kids to school in it or go shopping.

its about as respetable as one of those VW toe rag things and looks like a design desaster, great if ya have one of those airport boarding tubes on the front of ya house so you dont have to look at it before you drive it.

Range Rover Sport is apparently different to the normal RR 'cos it has a conventional monocoque chassis like the BMW X5, ie. not a 'proper' 4x4.

 

The Porche Cayenne is just an ugly version of the VW Touareg, with a different badge.

I absolutely hate the Cyanne, it is without doubt the WORST looking Porsche since the 914.

 

If it didn't have a Porsche badge on it, you could almost mistake its appearance to something from one of the Koreon manufacturers.

The Range Rover Sport is a bit of a missile with a 0-60 of something like 7.5 and a top speed of 142mph but the fuel economy makes a zed look like a diesel....

the cayan is actually built from a vw shell (cant remember the model but the vw looks almost the same) and the porshe costs 3 grand more new than the vw but when you come to sell it s/h? the porsche holds more value and you can get 8 grand more s/h for the porsche if i was gonna buy a mpv i know which one i'd buy

I am not a Range Rover fan at all but when I watched the TV add I had to go take a look. I almost bought one until I was told they can do as little as 7mpg

cant see the point TBH as I do around 18000 miles a year and about 7000 in the Z. I spend more on fuel than I do on food LOL

If I was to sell the Z and the Warrier I would probably be as heavy as Chunk :rofl:

'Technically', neither are MPVs, they're both SUVs. Only MPV I'd ever have would either be a Zafira GSi or an Espace 3.0 V6

The Skyline is quicker than a Porshe 911 around the Ring...so the Cayenne is quicker than the 911 !? Despite having slower acceleration, too much weight and height for comparable handling, and too unaerodynamic at high speed !?

The Cayenne Turbo S hits 60 in 4.8 seconds.

ugly yes, but fooking fast 0-60 in 5.4 and the 1/4 in 13.8.

the programme said faster than a skyline, but they make lot's of different type's, as soon as someone say's skyline we always think of the gtr v-spec version. so i think it would be possable to beat every version bar the v-spec's.

Big 4x4's are just IMHO!!

The Cayenne Turbo is VERY quick but wouldn't have thought it would beat a Skyline round a track, no way.

I had a bit of a race with a Cayenne Turbo on a dual carriageway and got past him but I wasn't a lot quicker.

My Z probably had around the same power at the time, I think they are about 450bhp?

If it had been off the line his weight would have killed it though.

 

If I had the cash and HAD to have a 4x4 I'd probably get the VW Touareg V10 diesel. It's got about the highest torque figures on the road, can pull up trees and think it outruns the Porche in a lot of circumstances.

I actually prefer this little beast. GMC Typhoon....although they make a pickup version, called a Cyclone as well.

It's a special 4.3 (I think) V6 with a turbo, autobox and 4x4.

 

They made less than 5,000 in 92/93 ish

I drove a new Zafira and I tghought it was one of the worst cars ever driven. I hired it new and itg was so plasticy and sh*te...I hated it. I would go for Chrysler Grand Voyager...cos it still looks sporty...

 

For an MPV, they are one of the best in their class. Do agree, the interior is pretty inspid looking. Still not something I'd want. But the GSi has 200bhp turbo charged engine and is quite tuneable.

Now that looks fun...lol
