Any recommendations on what pads to use all round ? I have Brembos. Also is there any difference between JAP Spec and UK Spec pads ?

we have been trialing HAWK pads and from all accounts these are without doubt the best pads out there at the moment, unlike porterfield etc there is near on zero brake fade,

So whats so great about the red and green stuff ? Why are they so expensive ?

Thanks for that Ryan & Taff

nothing's great about them imho, to be honest syed it depends on your style of driving , for me i need something that will cope with large amounts of stress, heat and most of all little or no brake fade , if you drive your car like mrs daisy :) you will of course only need a basic pad

I'm glad u mentioned driving like ms daisy. The mrs. on the Zed the other day, I nearly crapped myself. I got out shaking like a leaf ! I didn't know she could drive like that, redlining all the way through. That chip you fitted is lethal, what is it called ? It felt like if the car had wings it would take off into the air.

I use Mintex 413??? Something or other on mine, which is used on some WRC Cars allegedly... No Brake fade and when warmed up even with my standard discs pulls up my 300zxtt awesomely well.. As above though, not to brilliant from cold so unless you drive like Peter Solberg stay away from them... ;)

Well for years I have used porterfield pads and was very happy with them that was until I tried Ferodo they are AWESOME and I will be staying with those until I hear top drawer reports from others.

generally the longer a pad takes to warm up the harder the disc to pad wear ratio is.performance pads sacrifice your discs.ran my car for a while on ebc race pads.the pads took longer to warm up but the car stopped on a sixpence.discs were in tatters after.changed to a milder spec pad and sacrificed stopping power a bit but i know my discs wont be shot in 5000miles.

Agree with you there Ian I think most people are happy with porterfields because they are just better than stock , but it's not until you get a really good pad like Ferodo or hawk that you appreciate how good they really are

I got Ferodo's - cant fault em.

Are there different grades of Ferodo? I just got mine ordered in from local motorfactors and they told me they were the best.

Interested to find out if Ferodo do different grades/specs of the same pad.

Usually 2 main grades of Ferodo's mate, the ds2500 and the 3000 series, the 2500 being the most commonly used ones with an average price of 120 quid and the 3000 series being dearer, only concerns i've heard of and had for myself whilst using them is the large amount of dust that comes of them, though sometimes i think that is dependant on disc used as well.

Hawks are okay too, the HPS being one grade up from stock and the HPS+ being the better performing, though even Hawk themselves state they can be noisey, shorter life of pads and discs and quite dusty, so a compromise

really.

Each to their own :)

Ferodo for me to, do a search on the skyline board and its a must for the big boys on there and i got told to use them from Rod Bell and Keith Cowie who runs them on his 1200 bhp skyline!!! enough said ;)

id recommend the performance friction pads ,anyday of the week !! Zero brake fade and alot of the hight powered evo's and skylines are now using them also such as Norris designs 830 bhp evo and even has em on fis ferrari modena 360 also RC developments 950 bhp evo.Ive been running em for the last 1000 miles now although they do squeal very occassionally , when you slam the brakes on feels like ur face is being ripped off !! they are carbon metallic pads and also ceramic pads are available . few more details here :
