Hi everyone, been a while since i have been on here, major computer problems ahh well its good to be back.

Anyway i hope one of you cleverer than me people can help with a problem i have got with the Z. It keeps flattening the battery which initially i put down to the battery being knackered, however it still does it with a nice new battery installed. Admittedly i do a lot of short runs in it and the weather hasnt helped recently but about 2 weeks is as good as it seems to get.

I have stuck a meter on the battery with the engine running with nothing electric switched on and it reads about 13.8v, i suspect it ought to be higher than that, would have thought over 14v. Anyone got any experience? I would be very grateful for any help, obviously i dont want to replace the alternator if its not necessary (scarey money i suspect)

Thanks in anticipation

Dave (I used to have money, now I got a Z)

If its only in the 13s then it is a bit low.

Switch the lights and radio and wipers on and watch the volts, they should pick up to compensate for the drain, if not take it off and get it looked at it might not cost too much to put right.

Chopper has an alternator (£50) in for sale section.

...sounds like altenator to me. Good fun removing and replacing one. £150 new.

Good luck

Jack
