Hi mate,

You cannot put an M plate on a 1990 car - DVLA regulations clearly state you cannot make the car appear newer than it is. If you buy a reg from DVLA direct they ask what year of car you are going to put the plate on and warn you of the law before you hand over the money.

They then remind you of your legal obligations for mis-representing the letters/numbers and even ask why you want those specific initials. You get one last chance to change your mind before entereing into a legally binding contract to buy the plate and promise not to break the law on displaying it.

I've bought 3 from them over the last 5 years and the process has always been the same.

That's hilarious - the people who are able to charge extortionate amounts for plates which are easily 'doctored' have the bare faced cheek to ask why you're buying the plate which with a little modifying says your name!!! Bunch of hypocritical ****ers! :xxx: :xxx:

 i just love my plate k300

how hot are they on plates newer than cars? if the cars still registered as a 1990 on all the docs surely you cant be considered to be falsifying the age of the car? plate im after is an 'M' plate.

Can't be done, newest prefix you can have is G or H depending on what your's was.

I have an Irish plate with **Z300* in the middle. It has been suggested that I respace it so Z300 is separated from the other characters but IMHO I think it cheapens the whole appearance of the car, made worse by using italics and fancy text. I would rather spend the money on performance mods. Plus why risk being stopped for a number plate offence and risk DVLA revoking it? So mine reads **Z 300* and obviously anyone with a Z will understand it.

I want the number plate Y3FOL as my surname is FOLEY, i just need a car to put it on. on my log book it says date of first registration as 1999 so could i not put this plate on. the car is a G reg

I've gotta get a prize for this

Brings back memories of when I first got it, stock and white.....

Nope, Y is 2000/2001 isnt it? Look for FOL 3Y, don't suppose it would be cheap if available though.

Mine is a Jap import plate j*** RTT and even though it means fook all as all imports in Exeter are RTT at the end people still ask me if it's a personalised registration plate. Could mean Targa Top.

tried FOL3Y. There is no registrations available on the dvla website with the prefix F

Well i still think mine is best so..........

Neeerrr Ner Ner Ner Neerrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Mine is a H plate jap import .Imported in 2005 but my log book says year of manufacture 93 does this mean i can put a h j an k private plate on it.

If your log book says 1993 then you can go up to an "L" reg plate.

How come it currently sports an "H" plate if it's registered as a 1993?

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

This thread deffinately seems to have brought up some funny old stories of imported reg' questions. When i put my private number on my car the DVLA asked me what model Nissan it was? I shou;d have said MICRA and got cheap insurance? :smash:

Sounds a little odd, 93 would mean K so don't understand the H plate? But then I don't really know much about importing cars!

I Have The Best Plate Ever? Tur80s

What car do you have that on?

I had "J300 GW" (J30ogw) on my Z32 I sold it with the car to one of Cartmans mates. Anybody seen my old car lately??

I've got a sweet plate on my Z33 that I get asked about all the time if it's real

Superb mate. There is not a lot you can do with the new 51 plates. well not as much and the laws are much more strict. My son is called Ross so a 55 plate with RO which i am sure is from the heathrow area would be great if he could afford a new car.
