Hi Guys

I have bought the bits and peices and am now wonderingif I should send her into a garage or do the following myself:

1) Change discs and pads

2) Remove gear oil tank, clean and refill

3) Fit new fuel lines and filter

4) Full brake bleed and fluid change

5) Stainless steel brake hoses

I could do all the above easy on my other car, but feel a bit intimidated by the zed :(

I also noticed that the brake bleed needs another part to be emptied besides the calipers, I have never done that before and dont know where it is on the zed.

To make matters worse I have the ferrari replica wheels and dont even know how to take them off the car :headvswal

Any advice or help very much appreciated. By the way she is a 2+2 91 TT J-Spec.

Cheers and Beers :duffer:

Datascan, Conzult, ECUTalk and a few others

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

I have pretty much rebuilt a Ford Probe tackerling everything myself (armed with only an official workshop manual) including fitting NOS. Just a bit worried by the complexaties of the Zed........

Just a quick question bud: If you have done the above, how come you cannot take a set of wheels off your car?????

 They have no wheel nuts........

Take it into Zedworld, probably nearest Z garage to you. He is good value but if you have managed to rebuild The Probe then why not give it a go yourself. Obviously your biggest problem is getting the wheels off!

..all of those things you mention are easy. Do them. You'll be ok. Only thing that's difficult about the Z is access. Engine compartment's tight and it's a bugger to get underneath the car. Other wise it's 'just a car'...

I've done all those things and I'm a graphic designer.

Good luck

...some simply unscrew the centre nut and it holds a larger facing plate in place, and under the plate are the standard wheel nuts (or studs).

What kind of socket set do you have???!!!!! That must be about 70mm!

use an oil filter wrench then it will come off :)

Lol

no serious use ratchet it will grip to centre cap and undo :)

have to do it all the time, when customers forget there large cap spanner  a

Cheers for the advice. I thought it would be hand tight, but tried it and it is rock solid  The paint on them is chipped, so I assume someone has used a tool to put them on supertight :xxx:

I will try the filter wrench, but had better get somthing perminant for the boot(incase of breakdowns).

Any advice on the other stuff?

Surely there must be a 'proper' tool for this job??? I can't be the only one with these wheels!!

I ran Large Cap Spanner through google and ebay and both drew blanks. Mine are on s**t tight, so I'm gonna need something I can get some force behind. Any Ideas??????

Crow bar and a lump hammer has always worked for me... but you might have to join the members in search for new centre caps thread. LOL

do the work yourself it no more dif than doing your other car. Z's dont bite you know. you should have in your kit with the wheels the big ring spanner to remove the center caps . if not the oil filter tool is a good option .

there's an oil filter removal tool that is a plastic handle with a thick rubber strip that wraps round the filter and tightens in the plastic handle. They are really good (and cheap) and because it's rubber, it will not damage the paint on the large nut. Get one.

Good luck

Jack

Thanks for the help.

I am going to tackle the work myself. Wish me luck.
