Nice work!!

Fancied a Karputer setup myself, but funds won't allow yet (other priorities).

Well done you :)

the sat nav?? have you tapped into the speed pulse?

as i had a designated sat nav that when i went via the speed pulse

effected my steering/speedo, so running a road angel naviagtor at the moment, was thinking about getting this

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_detail.jsp?product_id=10319&taxonomy_id=25-111

as it came installed in the wives car, but put me off the hassle i had before

whats the advantages of the karputer and cost?

ease of install? and where from?

thanks in advance:)

The satnav retrieves the Vehicle speed via GPS and is more accurate than the Speedo.

As well as Full GPS Satnav on a 7" Touchscreen monitor, you can have conzult or Datascan ECU software running for realtime diagnosis. A Full hard disk of Mp3 music, available at the touch of a button. Internet and email access from anywhere, DVD & TV, Make and Receive phonecalls.......and much more

Plus everythng is managed via the Touchscreen monitor with a dedicated in-car frontend application.

Its far more advanced than the Latest Satnav Computer installations in top end Prestige cars...at a fraction of the cost.

Drop me a PM if you would like further info ;)

even better m8

i prefer the gps pne anyway, was just wondering if anyone had sussed the

speed pulse problem

pm on it's way;)

The speed is measured via the GPS, nothing connected into engine management.

Effectively you can do away with stereo, satnav, speed camera detector and replace with a touch screen monitor, PC and amplifier and like for like I would say they could cost you about the same.

Head unit £150 PC £600

SatNav £300 upwards Touchscreen £250

Camera Det £200 Amp £100 upwards

A little more for the PC but all-in-one and you can even get the DIN size for dashboard mounting.

I guess of course there will be some software required for SatNav etc.. but not particularly expensive.

Well worth a look for info an advice...thanks to Legrath of course.

Do you manage to get the unit to boot quickly, or is it standard windows startup times??

Been toying with the idea, using a spare laptop, but the boot up worries me - especially as GPS signal can be hard to lock once mobile...

It was supplied with a stripped and optimised version of Windows XP and boots in about the smae time it takes to turn ignition on, seatbelt, check mirrors, reverse off drive - probably about 20-30 seconds and away you go.

http://www.map-monkey.co.uk explains all about the SatNav I was provided with.

Ive just said the same to Legrath via pm

i have at the moment got a double din dvd/mp3/tv/ optional sat nav installed

with 7" screen but screen has gone funny, so i have another screen on the dash, plus road angel sat nav plus a road pilot, good job i aint ronnie corbett cos i wouldnt see out the window

only thing i'd like to keep is the dvd player, as i tend to play music dvds and a bonus when sophie ellis bextor etc appears
