At last - a normal insurance quote

Ever since I got behind the wheel of a car, I have always gone under my ole' mans insurance policy because insurance for a 20yr old driving a RS Turbo wasn't very pleasant.

Now at 26 and a couple hundred horse power more, the insurance is a tolerable levels even whilst on the same policy.

However, after speaking with JeffTT a few weeks back, he mentioned Firebond so I decided to give them a call today for a laugh.

I was well shocked. Check this out:-

I am 26, work as a Problem Manager for an IT company, ZERO no claims, no endorsements or accidents living out in the the Derbyshire sticks.

Full Comp - 6K miles p/year limit - £100 stereo cover - legal cover included - unlimited glass cover = £371.

Same again but with a 10K mile p/year limit = £439

They offered multiple payment options and even on a 10 mth spread, the interest only worked out at something like £31. Not bad I say.

I quized the girl about age limits and mileage limits and she said that they would on cover people over 22 and 10k was the mileage limit.

Looks like time to start my own insurance policy.

Must be your age, cos when I tried, with 4 years NCB, 22 years old with a UK car they wanted 1700, thats £700 more than I am paying now.

you have a good post code and you area lucky b**tard!

i am paying a grand! 29 never a cliam sp30 speeding! but to many cars to get no claims bounus

Just got my Z insured: £1200 from Norwich Union w/ 3yr ncd, recent crash (no claim), recent sp30 (85 on a dual carriageway, tight b*****d, still I was doing 120+ when I saw him, had the nose digging a trough in the tarmac to get the speed down!). Cheaper than most of the big guns - even Elephant were more expensive.

Prolly could have got it cheaper if Id really searched but cover is excellent (free courtesy car, and all the other bells & whistles) so for me is worth it.

Give them a go when you turn 23. Should be cheaper unless you park the car in Isreal.

GRRRR

Andy P, Firebond can insure UK 1990/91(think 92) Twin Turbos under a classic car policy.

Hence the low quotes. Last time I checked Firebond dont insure imports.

They said that they would only insure over 22's???? That's strange 'cos i was 20 when i started my policy with firebond confused.gif wink.gif

Rob.

Tesco car insurance gave me the best quote.

I am 22 drive a Z TT and only paying ready……

£1200 fully comprehensive with £750 ex

Other companies were quoting £1500 - £2000+

£750 excess! Day-amn!

I'm 27, full PNCD, Fully Comp, 12,000 miles a year, Twin Turbo UK Spec : £583 & £150 excess with Bell Direct.

Just thinking, even when I got my MR2 at 19, my insurance was only £900. I know the MR2 is in a different league to a Zed (Group 12 to Group 20 for a start) but my previous cars had only been Metros and I'd only been driving with a full licence for 18 months.

But then, I am female, which helps. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif
