Right guys could do with some help, before I rip the car to bits looking for this problem........I've done a search (loads of pages.....can't find the answer)

Mine is a Jspec N/A and up until recently when I selected high beam then low beam remained on and high beam came on, but now low beam goes out(not good for HID's), reading the online circuit drawing implies that on/off is correct but it never used to do this and it's driving me nuts

anyone had this happen to them, am I right in thinking the low and high beam should be on when the high beam switch is on.

cheers

Hmm... I'm pretty sure dipped beam should go off when you switch on main beam.

Your right it does, but you can get a relay to stop it happening you will have to do a search its on here somewhere. I just do'nt use High beam with my H.I.Ds as the light is better on dipped beam.

hold up on my N/A jspec im sure the dipped stays on when I put full beam on

can you check for me bud.

yep mine used to. I also remember someone on here ages ago asking how to keep dip beam on with high beam like the Jspecs, they were given the link thats posted above. anyone got the lighting drawings for the jspec as I'm not sure the online manual is totally applicable.

check that you dont have the dipped beam earthed direct to body if they do this is not good for hid as when you flash the lights dip beam flashes as well

can you check for me bud.

it's easy as compared to uk spec jap does not have dim dip relay the power cable in feeds both dim and high beam bulbs on either side and the negative side is switched through the relays for dim/high operation

I dont have hid kierash ill check it during the week and get back to you my car isnt with me at the moment but im sure the dipped use to stay on when i put full beam on but ill double check for ya bud

mines stock jap, dipped deff go out when main beam comes on, dead easy to tell with mine cos its fitted with blue tint bulbs so u cant see a thing when its wet.....good job my fogs are bright :x:

Ok - definitive guide for JDM Z32:

If you're using the standard Nissan H3C bulbs dip beam will turn off when engaging high beam.

If you're using a modified H3 bulb and earthing the conversion lead to chassis then dip beam will NOT turn off when engaging high beam.

I know this becaust this is what mine does.

If you're using a modified H3 bulb but connect the conversion lead into the negative side of the power connector then you revert back to H3C conditions and dip beam will turn off when engaging high beam.

PS - When using HID's in dip beam they will not turn off when engaging high beam (or flashing another car) and this is detrimental to the life span of the HID bulb. So if you don't want to rewire the relay/fuse box just use your fogs to flash and don't use high beam ;)
