Not only have I got a bolt missing but on closer inspection I don't have any gasketts or even sealant of anykind between the two surfaces! WTF is that all about?

 

Is this bad???

 

Oh well, looks like a trip to Nelson at the weekend with a list of parts that I need. Bummer!

 

There are o'rings, no seals or gasket goo required ....

Mines been off for a number of reasons in the past, each time put a little smudge of sealant on plenum before refitting, just to prevent any leaks of air, shouldn't have any bolts missing though.

Cheers guys, me good friend Macca is sending me a replacement bolt but he said to me that he hoped the hole and thread hadn't been stripped out! Hence why 1 bolt missing...GULP!

I've just got my intake collector back after having 4 of the holes heli-coiled (if thats how you spell it?) coz the threads were completely stripped. One of which was for the balance tube. Not bad for about £4 a hole!

Wasn't it SE who did the work on your engine? I'd get onto them for the bolts etc!

If I recall, the reason there's no bolt in that centre hole is because there's a sheared off bit in the intake collector..

 

From memory..

Oh great! You might be right Az, I had a quick look yesterday and it did look like there was something plugging it. FFS!

 

So what now then?

Is it the side with 2 or 3 bolts. If it should have three then I'd be tempted to leave it, unless it actually leaks ....

It's the side with 3 Andy, we looked at it when doing Tim's TC (probably before he got up, which is why he doesn't remember it ).. Peered down the hole and said "Looks like they sheared it off".....

Yep it is as you say guys, so I'm gonna leave it!
