they allow your engine to run for a set amount of time once the key is taken out to cool the turbos

What else do they do or is that it?

Are they very useful then?

Depending on which model or brand you go for, they do loads of other stuff

Lap Times

Read Voltages

02 ratios

0-60

1/4 miles

boost gauge

Its an alternative to sitting in the car leaving it running for a few mins...or driving off boost for the last few miles/minutes of the journey. You can leave car and let it switch itself off.

Switching the car off straight after a blast will drastically affect turbo life.

Leaving a Running car unattented increases risk of theft in their eyes.

Maybe the offence of quitting a motor vehicle as well if you leave it in a public place!

Turbo Timers are good for preserving turbos. But, if you have an imobiliser, can cause problems. The imobiliser will try and switch off the engine while the turbo timer tries to keep it running. so if you have an imobiliser speak to a pro about getting it installed.

Or if you dont have an alarm/imobiliser. Clifford do an alrm /imobiliser, which with an option called inteli-start, can remotely start you car with the doors locked, plus, keep your car running for a set period of time. Just another option to consider.

Regards
