i aint never been hooked on smoking so cant comprehend what it is like, but what i can say is, my mother smoked for years she now has knackered lungs, a dodgy vheart and cant even walk to the car without being out of breath, it kills me to see her like this

so just think what you would do to your loved ones, if the worst would happen

hope you kick the habit bud

i've been stopped 13 months now, and can honestly say i havent had a drag since the day i stopped..

i havent used patches or anything else, BUT if you need to then anything is good..

one thing i would say here, the mind is more powerful then ANY patch, if you want to do this you WILL do it mate... but you've gotta want to do it...

i now need to lose about 6st in weight, i keep starting but aint got the will power to succeed yet, maybe next month..

Same here, I gave up last New Years, so I've been off the fags for a little over 13 months too now, and I was on about 30 a day. I never once used a patch/gum/acupuncture or anything at all, the thing that got me through it (and it was really tough, believe me) was understanding that I WANTED to give up, and if I smoked again I would only be letting myself down. After the first 3 months it was easy, but that first 3 was PURE HELL!!!!

But, it was definitely worth it. I can't say that I feel that much different, I still won't be running any marathons!! And I'm not wealthier either, 'cos I just find other ways to spend my money ;), but I think of the long term gains and it makes it all worth while.

Plus the Mrs says I smell better now :D

Stick at it mate, you'll be glad you did once the cravings are gone.

Going to Boozer this afternoon so fingers crossed.

Good on you guys for giving up. Fortunately I've never smoked anything other than a bit of the funny stuff at college. My mate however is having a nightmare. His mum was diagnosed as having lung cancer a year and half ago. That was a shock to him (they both smoked lots). Then two weeks later she dropped dead. He's been trying to give up since but has such a hard time. I'm sure a lifestyle change would help, his social time is at the pub which is a nightmare for stopping smoking.
