Auto causes stalling on heavy braking???

help, not really a serious problem but whenever i have to slam on the brakes to come to a standstill the car stalls :confused:

as i drive in London this happens at least once every journey :rant:

 

is it a problem with the box? torque convertor?

Are you sure the oil level is correct in the box and you are checking correctly, a couple of people lately have had the same problems and turned out to be low on oil and not realising that you have to check it with the engine running.

Sounds more like a control system problem to me. Something that affects the idle control valve for example.

was only recently serviced and so oil seems spot on, it seems that the box 'lets go' of the engine too late when the deceleration is sharp, it idles fine,

Basic engine tune, very common, the idle cotrol valve cannot act quickly enough if the base idle is set to low, this can be caused by retarded ignition, tps setting, base idle screw incorrectly set or a mixture of all of these, often incorrect throttle balance will compound this too, as will dirty throttles.
