Was up in the loft for a bit last night rummaging through some old computer crap. Amost my old editions of McFormat and Total Amiga, I recalled some old skool games which I really quite miss. Generally, I have little regard for computer games now. I don't have a Play station or xbox or anything, nor to they interest me in the least.

But I do have a soft spot for the following which I actually miss.

James Pond AKA Robocod.

Jaguar XJ220

Does anyone remember the really cool stereo CD player that you had in game setup? Kinda cool electronic music.

Alien Breed

Lemmings

dizzys eggselent adventures, they were great, also flimbos quest

The guy who coded the Dizzy games gave up games programming and works at Thor Racing!

Yeah I had an Atari 400 and 800 then moved on to the STFM and Commodore Amiga.

My love of games got me into I.T somehow LOL

Remember typing in 10 pages of programing from computer magazines? to make a crap game and spending 2 days checking it to find why it wouldn't run... only to give up and find in the next issue that it was a printing error! :headvswal LOL

Remember the joys of waiting an hour for a 64k game to load from tape, only for it to fail 3 times running at the last minute...

When PC's started appearing in the shops I moved on from typing lines of Basic at Dixons to typing FORMAT C: or FDISK/Delete partition. Oops! :x:

Oh the days of typing in all that BASIC programme and like you say finding it didn't run.

And as for loading my Acorn Electron from tape........................ :headvswal

What used to infuriate me was when I moved onto Coral and FORTARN programming and the compiler used to say things like "missing comma at line 60": FFS if it knows it's missing why the fook didn't it put it in???

Of course there was always Assembly language programming, all that Moving and Storing and Pushing and Popping.

As for retro games wasn't there a series on the C64 with something to do with llammas???

I also have the complete Dizzy colection for the Commodore 16 :hyper: I loved that little egg, cracking games.

I agree with Vini there.......

.....feck computer games, I was out playing with real girls as a kid ;) :hyper:

Did enjoy the odd play on a space invaders machine though, then later on defender was pretty cool.......

But that could not compare to a pert young lady

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Wizball was class!!! Remember the follow up Wizkid??? Wasn't as good but it was funny when you could walk into the toilets and he started chewing a rubber jonny to make a baloon!!!

Had all the speccy classics, jetpac, jetman, sabre wulf, knight lore, jetset willy, manic miner, all the dizzys, gauntlet, commando, operation wolf christ too many to remember!!!

And with you on the Amiga stuff Funky Si!!! Also loved the Turrican games, super cars ii, lemmings and i've still got my amiga set up with loads of games on floppy!!! yahoo! :nana2:

 Sabre Wulf was ace, forgot about that!!

heres one for you, need to know what this game is called, for the amiga (stick with me here!) it was like an american football type game but you could pick up swords and axes and shit and beat the hell out of each other! never had so much fun, ive got thousands of amiga games now but cant remember what this one was called. please help!!!

Brutal Sports: Football, if it's the same one I'm thinking of - was stupidly fun when playing against a friend. Stamping on fallen players until their head burst off was always a source of much merriment, as was the realisation that the goal you just scored wasn't with the ball, but with a severed head.

Paradroid on the C64 and Lotus Turbo Esprit on the Speccy (the pseudo 3d one where you could run over pedestrians and window cleaners) are two old games I have fond memories of.

The only game I really miss is TIE Fighter. That's one game that's crying out for a remake.

yes! fecking legend! im off to search for it i love that game! best amiga games gotta be:

cannon fodder

Hired guns

Stunt car racer

alien breed

syndicate

and brutal sports football! which im off 2 play..............

And peeking and poking!

You are in a large chamber. There is an axe on the floor.

What next?

Get Axe

You have the axe. A troll enters the room.

What next?

Kill Troll

What next?

Wait

Time pases....................

Etc etc

Built it myself using a top quality 2nd hand arcade cabinet with 30" screen and some decent PC to arcade interface hardware running MAME Multiple Arcade Emulator etc.

Supports 4 player games with trackball and a spinner so it can play almost anything ever made.

It's loaded up with 6000 arcade games, 450 Neo-Geo games, 500 Pinball games, 30 Laserdisk games, 22000 Amiga games, tens of thousands of Atari and Commodore 64 games, 1000 ZX Spectrum games, PC Engine, Nintendo etc etc...

Taken a long time to do and the control panel still needs a bit of trimming but keeps me and my mates busy!

Chris.

I WANT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing like a good ol' peke followed by a poke

I'm just using the latest version of MAME32 on Windows XP.

All the games run although the odd one has sound or graphics problems but that's because they haven't been fully converted, not the emulator.

Atari 400/800:-

Missile Command

Asteroids

Pac-Man

Ballblazer

Caverns of Mars

Defender
